blueJeeps I think (not sure though) you should see a vent line mounted on the fire wall.
I can swing by my bro n laws house and look at his if you need me to. His '97 is down for the count right now after some stupid kids broke into it and trashed it.

Transmission vent line

Anyone know about where a ventline is on a 97 5sp trans.? not sure about ax5 or ax15 its not the orig. trans. I cant find line on top. If its in the bell housing wich direction does it point? can you see it without removing trans? this trans has external slave cyl.
