Dogzilla Better safe than sorry. really is NOT good to let your tank get too empty.

swingtail82 mine also comes on premature(right around 1/4 of a tank), but I usually don't let my tank get that's hard on your fuel pump.

galaxyblur Most vehicles allow about 40-50 miles more once the warning light comes on (in the US at least). I read somewhere that US consumers preferred it this way. My 2011 Wrangler's light comes on with about 2.5 gallons left, which is around 50 miles highway.

Low fuel warning wrong.

I get the low fuel warning to soon I think. Each time I get the warning I drive another forty or so miles. When I fill it up I can only get 15 gallons in it. It is a 2007 X Auto with 4.1 gears and 17 inch tires. It is supposed to have 18.5 gallon tank. Am I wrong on the tank size? I guess I will have to take a spare gas can with me to see. If the gauge is wrong, can it be reset?
