nodor Yeah, I'll agree with that. I wasn't taking the right perspective. I guess what I was really getting at is why people buy a Jeep to only be used on road 95% of the time and then make an issue out of MPG. I've ran across this more than once since joining two weeks ago. Thats what I found ironic. I understand the issue when someone buys a Jeep so they can off-road often AND have a car to get them around town. But it sure does seem like quite a few people buy it for the latter of the two, don't go off roading, and then try to make mods revolved around MPG, as if they bought the Jeep just to own one and make it look cool.

jeffk42 ^^^ exactly.

Not all of us can afford to buy a Jeep just for going offroad, and have a second car for everything else. For myself and countless others, it also has to operate as a daily driver. So why not try to maximize your MPG? When I'm on the highway, it becomes a bit of a game for me, utilizing the various techniques to get that MPG counter to go up another tick.

rics1997 I am confused why someone would ask this question. Why would anyone be concerned that others have questions about MPG's? Some drive their Jeep as a primary vehicle.

Of course people that buy a Jeep know about the MPG's of a Jeep or any 4X4. But just because we know about the MPG's doesn't mean we can't work out ways to get the most out of our Jeep and also not lose MPG's in the process, well not as much anyways. And it never hurts to recognize if you go this way with a mod instead of another how it will effect MPG alone with power issues. Because if you go in the wrong direction without fore thought it could effect both in ways you may not like or think about.

So Yes there is concerns but it isn't a major concern. It is just a logically thought process as to what is the best mod if your still using your Jeep as a daily driver. Of course if it is only being used for off roading then MPG's mean very little.

Jeeps and MPG??

Been a bit confused about all the questions about MPG since joining this forum and others like it... Why are you buying a Jeep if you are so concerned about MPG? It seems to me like that is the last thing that would be on someones priority list of they're buying a Jeep to use it for what it is.
