No,, IG you were right, there aren't that many Xterras off-road and thats for the reasons I mentioned and-
I took my 1974 Ramcharger (lifted) over the Rubicon, but I wouldn't take my Xterra !!
I remember driving mine for 17 hrs (picked up trailer) and the only fatigue I felt was my eyes--pure pleasure driving on the hiwy !!

Heh Heh, can't agree with ya, the '05 and later Xterras are very capable with a little tweaking --
My '06 Xterra OR would go 90% of the places my JKU Ruby can go, but
With the aluminum front diff and more warranty troubles than jeep has, adios
If the jeep just had the Nissan Xterra 4 liter V6-man what a gem that would be

|jebby||they are trail capable there just no jeep. they can handle light wheeling just not much more... and there drivers tend to play for the other team|

|Schmo||I've seen Xtera's on the trail one time . . . I got to play bumper cowboy helping to keep their asses down going down the waterfall on Dishpan . . . it was fun to see them out on the trail but there's a pretty good reason that Jeeps out number Xtera's 1000 to 1 out on the trail.|

i was looking at one before i got my jeep, 8900 bucks OTD for a 2001 xterra with 123k miles or 11500 bucks OTD with 2 year warrenty for a 2001 TJ sport with 66k miles. it was an easy choice...
now that i have the jeep im soooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! glad i got the wrangler and not the Nissan.

Not a great deal, but
The X had a lot more powerful engine (265 hp) and about the same mileage -
The X had e-select 4hi/4lo-very quick and easy to switch and the OR had a rear e-locker-
They both had about the same diff clearance and the X was very comfy, with more cargo area and could be driven all day with its powerful engine (V6) but was a little more top heavy and had the IFS in the front--they weren't to easy to lift and the aftermarket is pitifully small-
The JK Rubi has a gold mine Xfer case that the X doesn't have and also has e-swaybar disco's and the X didn't-the JK Rubi has the front e-locker and the X didn't-
The X has a "lift gate" which is not quite as handy as the JKs gate/window
I'd give the Xterra OR an 8 and the JK Rubi a 10-

Dont know much about xterras but
the rubicon has lockers, more ground clearance, solid axles which give you more suspension travel, short wheelbase better for offroad, american made...i can keep going.

Wranger and Nissan Xterra
What can a stock (maybe lifted 2.5") Jeep Rubicon do off-road (I'm not talking Moab or boulder climbing) that a stock off-road Nissan Xterra cannot?
