If i had the chance to do it again, I would have made it with two posts. One on either end rather than one post in the middle. It does bounce around slightly and with two posts the bouncing would be eliminated.
What a great idea...and an equally great fabrication/installation. Nicely done!

Old Gunny That looks pretty good. I'm going to build a rack for my YJ sometime next year. Only mine will be for surfrods. I'm just thinkg out loud here but with flyrods and reels being so expensive why wouldn't you just safeguard them inside the jeep itself? Let us know how your design holds up.

Fly Rod Holder

So I built an external mount for my fly rods when I go fishing. Room enough for my two rods and and two for a tag-a-long friend. It is built from spare copper piping and painted with Rustoleum Satin Black.
