Neil F. The kit comes with everything and is about 160.oo (you need more than the switches...dual pump washer tank, hose to run to the rear, all the wiring and relays plus you have to insert pins into connectors). The kit is not bad to install. I have seen a couple posts from people that have removed the parts from vehicles but unless you have the factory service manual wiring diagrams and a are somewhat familar with wiring, it would not be that easy.

zimi117 what would be the cheapest solution for the switches? Does anyone know if these parts would be availible in a junkyard?
How complicated is the wiring of the switches and harness?

Neil F. All 97-06 TJ originally equipped with a hard top or dual top have the switches for defroster (shuts off after 10 min) and wiper. Softop only models did not come with the switches.

zimi117 ya the switches need to be bought.
The top does have everything wired but i do not know what year.
My tj has almost no options so i need to put the switches in the stock dash but u just got out the little slit where they would go.

Logirl I'm pretty sure my jeep doesn't have any extra switches or buttons to turn on the rear defroster.. I was just wondering about that last week..hmmm

Peepers My 98 has a rear defrost switch... but I have a soft top. makes a good back up light switch though. they automatically shut off if I forget.

Logirl Whoa..wait a sec...the 98 tj has rear defrost? I don't think mine does..

Neil F. You need the witing kit from Mopar. You need the kit for the year of the Jeep and depending on the year of the top you may need to purchse or can make and adaptor. The plugs are different 97-02, 03-06.

Rear winshield Wiring on a hardtop

Hello all!

I own a 98 TJ sport that is a factory soft top. Found a pretty much new hardtop for 500 and the top has the defroster and windshield wiper. My jeep does not have the wiring harness and I was wondering how easy it is to wire it up. Recomendations are welcome and links to parts would be apreciated.
