Tow rating is more for the brakes than anything else, if I remember right. A 4 door jeep is longer and wider than midsize trucks, rated at 6500lb towing, and I have had NO problems pulling anything I want witn a Jeep (jks included). Problem is trying to stop, and its a little early for brake upgrades just yet.

WRONG ABSOLUTE OFFROAD!!!! Those guys are a bunch of hillbillys!!! You want www.absoluteoffroadphx.com

I can tell you that 5.13 gears with 37" tires will SMOKE a TJ with 35's and 5.13 gears and an auto!!! I got a chance to get out and drive to a trail this weekend with my JK. I smoked the TJ's with power on the driving part (85 miles of 6% grade freeway driving) and at the firt fill up where the TJ's were filling a half a tank, I used 4.2 gallons.... It worked out to 16.2 MPG. You will not find a chip for the JK as of right now (7-11-07) but there should be a few out by SEMA. Intake does help alot, both MPG and power, but the factory exhause is efficiant enough that anything else just makes noise. All there is available is Cat-back, and it really does not do that much other than noise. Supercharger? ust remember this is NOT a forged piston engine, and its relativly high compression for a supercharger. Drive it for awhile and you will forget just how quick your WRX was and get used to your JK. Dont forget that it will also run better after the "break in " program @ 5000 miles. Mine was like a light switch difference after 5K miles. Just remember, It is what it is, and you just gave up Horsepower for off-road ability. Sorry about your run in with absoluteoffroad.com.

binaryking Nothing is going to make your Jeep a dragster. If you can't get that V6 onto the highway safely, then there is something wrong with you.

If you want to drop $1000 and don't care about your gas mileage, then you could always have the axles re-geared. There are also superchargers out there, but those are going to run at least 5 grand plus install.

My advice would be just to get used to it. It's not your WRX and will not perform like it no matter what you do.

oh, Welcome to the Forum and Congrats on the new Jeep! You will love it!

toycop Impaqt,

I know how you're feeling. I got rid of my chipped/modded Passat and my wife got rid of her 2004 Mustang GT to get into the Jeeps. I plan on finding a chip (unichip probably), intake and perhaps a good cat back exhaust to see how it goes. I have already made the decision that my Jeep won't be a speed demon. I also realized my Passat would be useless when I head up hunting, camping and/or off roading.

bluvikng Welcome to this forum, and glad you found a Jeep that suited your needs. As far as increasing your power, I can not be of much help, as the 07's are completely different than anything else on the jeep market. We do have a very knowledgeable mechanic on the forum, who is probably more familiar with the V6 than DC is. His name is Joe, from Absolute Offroad. He will probably chime in, later this eve., after work.

JK Unlimited onthe Way....

Jeep Green, Freedom Top, Automatic....

Dealer Transfer so hopefully Friday I'll be joining the ranks. I always loved the Jeep Style and Community, but couldnt deal with the ride on a Daily Basis(30+ mile ride to work) so after I took the jeeps for a test drive yesterday I knew I had found the jeep for me.

Only Problem is this... I'm moving from a WRX into the Jeep....

My WRX does 0-60 in HALF the time of the jeep.... Granted, I'm not buying the jeep to go fast, but I still need to get it on the highway.... 10 Seconds can be a bit scary.. Especially for my wife who also drives a Turbo Subaru (Forester XT), and she wants to drive the jeep too...

So basically, what I'm after is what is the best route to go to get it up to speed a bit quicker? A new Exhaust and Intake may help a bit, but whats that on these? 10hp maybe? Are there any Chips that are actually worth it?

Shaving a Second or 2 off that 0-60 time is really al I'm after.
