Undead-89 My fix was to drill holes through the bottom edge of the top of the windshield lined up with the holes in the channel. The holes are big enough for a wrench and a flanged nut. I now use bolts through the channel and secure them through the frame. When i take the channel out to install the hardtop, I use rubber washers with the bolts to seal the hole.

soonermatt Had the same problem; here's what I did and it worked great:

The original screws will out strip the sheet metal so I tried larger screws to dig into the thread. This worked for several years.

My permanent fix was getting ALL new screws and mixing up a palette of epoxy. I dabbed the screws, poured in the threads and painted the surface between the rail and windshield. The screw will not be moving for some time and nothing can get underneath it.

BTW: 'RTV' is Blue RTV silicone gasket sealer. Many people use in addition to or as a substitute for gaskets.

creasyj Okay, I went to Autozone and bought some RTV Sealant. When I went to take apart the channel I noticed that the screws were actually loose. I caulked the window seal and the holes from the screws, then I took some self tappers and made new holes through the channel. It looks great and works great! Thanks for the advice guys.

bc3_Jeep I had an 89 that leaked. I put rtv UNDER the windshield attachment channel along the entire length and eliminated the leak.

water leaking above windshield under soft top

I have a 92 YJ with a Bestop Supertop and every time it rains or snows and I am driving around 40 mph and up, the water or snow will get under the soft top where it hooks onto the windshield frame. On the interstate it all but pours in. Anybody have any tricks to fix this? I figure I should put some weatherstripping but I wasn't sure exactly what to use. Thanks for any advice.
