NHrubicon Get the coil spring mount for it (wherever you bought the FireSTik from or Radio Shack) and then mount it wherever you want. That spring will let the antenna flex much further to clear branches, etc. and snap right back.
My FireStik is mounted on a steel bracket welded on the top arm of my swingaway tire carrier (03 rubicon) and it sticks up less than a couple inches beyond the Garvin overhead rack we had installed, with the coil spring. Once in awhile on the trail we hear it 'whang' against the rack rail when it catches on a branch, that's all.

Jerry Bransford Yes, a 2' FS-2 Firestick mounted onto your spare tire bracket works perfectly. That is how I used to have mine mounted and it worked very well in that location. It only takes a 1 by 2 inch piece of steel to mount it there. Twisting that little piece of steel a few degrees allows the antenna to be mounted perfectly vertical. I'll post a picture of it tonight if you remind me.
