go501green Btw, the $50 is for the whole year, Jan 1st thru Jan 31st the next year.

go501green Bear island is in the middle of Big Cypress. You have to purchase an ORV permit at the visitor center for about $50. The gates are locked and they will give you a card with the combination to the lock to get in. They have primitive camping and hunting out there. It's a mix of hard roads and depending on the time of the year anything from water holes to deeper stuff. I'm attaching a pic from a couple of years ago of me and the wife in my Bronco (3" lift w/ 32" tires) going thru one of the big holes. We would always go with a friend, neither of us had a winch, just a tow strap, but neither of us ever got stuck.

Bs13855 Well depends on where u went. It was my first time and I didn't have my front driveshafft on cause of a broken u joint. We first went to the muddy area " I wasn't that happy but still played in mud it was my first time gotta break it in" then we went south west and ran into nothing but dry land here's some pics

Captnrich According to the Corbitt site, we can run on all the improved roads and Trail 6. Sounds like some nice light duty fun.
02-02-2011 02:17 PM
Captnrich Cool. I just talked to Willy. He says that Trail 6 is open to ORV's. I'll go on the Corbitt site as well.
How was it out there last week? Wet or no?
02-02-2011 02:09 PM

(sorry to cross forum here...)

I searched it and couldn't find the info. Thier land issues section looks like it has been cleaned out of old stuff. I'll see what I can dig up.

Captnrich check with Jeepnwilly over on JT.net I think Corbitt might be shut down unless you are hunting. Either that or you are restricted to the main trails. Willy should know for sure. Check the land issues section for more info. If it's open, I'd be up for it.

01-23-2011 02:08 PM
WahooWolfe Check out the Everglades 4x4 Everglades Jeeps & 4X4s. Given your locations and the number of the activities they have, I think you could find a ride you would enjoy.

Best wishes,

Wahoo!

Ok sounds good the acreage won't be that bad just grass and dirt roads with hills and open land. So you don't have to worry about getting stuck or hydrolocking your motor. Just changed my entire cooling system and put in a 180 thermo the jeep won't go past 190 degrees yeahhhhhhh

Bs13855 Probably gonna try to get this together within the next month. My jeep just broke down. don't know what happened think it just overheated. New water pump on the way, new thermostat, all new hoses and redoing my oil catch pcv system Ohhh and hooking up a heater bypass. Hope that fixes everything

Captnrich MMMMMMM.......Bacon.......
My daughter would love to see the piglets.
When are you thinking of putting this together? That's the kind of light duty wheeling that I like to do. Plus, my back is all screwed up so I can't play too rough ay more. If you and your friend don't mind, I'd love to go out there with you guys.

Bs13855 Those pics don't really show the land but y'all get the point. Family and youngsters all welcome to come
01-19-2011 02:46 PM
Bs13855 There won't be any big mud pits just alot of open open open open land that only jeeps can ride on. Let me see if I have any pics. And plus if anyone is into shooting it is legal to shoot weapons there so we could set up a little target range. Plus we have access to atv's
