|duaneduanet||The guy that runs the orv park I go to told me that 4" sl with 33's is the best combo he has seen for jeeps. Rough country makes a 4" lift for about $500. I helped a friend put it on his jeep and the sye was not needed.|

Im not saying that it's a bad thing to do however with 4" get ready for a major money spend and some considerable amount of labor if you do it yourself. To be safe SYA & CV shaft, line extensions, drop pitman arm, ... hm, have I forgotten about anything else? Moreover, check your local laws re: vehicle ground clearance and how strictly cops going by it. Re: wheels, I'd say you can go up to 33s before jumping into re-gearing on 4.0 unless as I said you're doing some heavy offroading.
I'm in Chicago and the last snowmageddon I got around perfectly fine with 31" and 1" up on shackles. If anything I was yanking cars out of snow and ditches. It was fun.

|95jeepsahara||ya see and i dont really want to have to regear it but i was taking to a guy at work and he thought i could get away with a 4" SL with 32's cuz for one i got the 4.0L high so i would think it would have enough power to pull me down the road cuz yes i do use it every day to drive around town but yet i do go out on weekends and mud what ever is in front of me so im not easy on it ether when out in the trail.|

|95jeepsahara||hey i need help with a decision and im new at this i got a 95yj and im wanting to put a lift on it but i cant pick a 2.5" lift with idk what size tires yet or a 4" lift with maybe 33's on it but idk if those are going to be too big of tires and if ill have to do anything to my axle or drive shaft or any thing please help thanks|

|Coyote_94YJ||1.25 lift shackles aren't big, but I agree. Large shackle lifts aren't safe. I would keep it under 1.5" for shackles and the same goes for body lifts.|

|flatline||I went with the Rubicon Express 4.5" lift, before the soa. I don't like large shackle lifts. You will need SYE, cv drive line.|

|Coyote_94YJ||Leave the shackle lift on. 1.25" shackle lift isn't going to hurt anything. If you go 4" lift springs chances are your going to need to put a slip yoke eliminator on the transfer case and get a CV drive shaft ($500). Leave the 1" body lift on and go with a 3" lift kit.|

Ive got a 1 1/4" shackle lift on my 95 yj currently. I aslo have a 1" body lift. I need a bit more cause im getting a little tire scrape still. Would I be better of getting a 3" spring lift and use with the shackle lift or do away with the shackle lift and go with a 4" sring lift. This jeep is also a daily driver. So if the 3" springs will ride better then thats a plus. I dont do any extream offroading, but do quit a bit of rutted out old trails to get to my fishing and duck hunting honey holes. Pros and cons of each would be appreciated so i can make up my mind. Im running 33x12 50 R15s on 15x10s. So I need more lift bad, as it looks like raw ass with it sitting the way it is now.
At the time when I bought the jeep I had enuff money for a lift or tires but not both (except the cheap body lift) and I needed tires. I was ridein on bolony skins. Also if it makes any difference Im gonna put bomb proof 1" motor mounts to go with the 1" body I already have. to help with the drive line angle.
