I gave him a couple of real world examples, from a sea of real world examples I have witnessed myself. Just for S&G, I checked a few H2s out today at work. I do appraisals on lease returns and reposessions for GMAC. All H2s that I have seen, have an Average MPG read out in the odometer, that measures the amount of fuel consumed with the mileage from a tripometer. I checked 4 H2s, 1 denali, and 1 escalade. Just to cover my butt, I called my father who was a used car manager for 35 years, and is now the director of online sales for a dealer chain. I had him check the 2 H2s he has, as well as 2 more Denalis. Granted, the Denalis and escalades are 2wd or all wheel drive with small tires, as opposed to the full time 4x4 hummer H2 on 35s, but the engine is a gas hog and I wanted to prove my point.
Every single vehicle read between 10.1 and 12.2. None were any better than that. The lowest was 10.4 and the highest, 12.2. The highest was a Denali, the lowest a Denali. All the H2s ranged from 11.4 to 12.1. Now, this was only a handful of vehicles, with un known driving habbits, but I would think the odds of 10 vehicles being driven like a corvette, especially when we are talking about people that could not afford their car payments anyway, or are on a lease program and have to pay for damages, are slim to none.
SO. The debate is over, the 6.0 is GENERALLY a gas hog (the other poster may have a factory freak, who knows, but I tend to find most people exagerate a tid bit when it comes to MPG...) especially when in an H2.

I'd say if your buddy is considering a Hummer over a Jeep you may have lost him before the question was asked.
The H1 is obviously going to be capable out of the box. The H2 is essentially a Tahoe with a boxy body. The H3 I've actually ridden with on the trails and will handle it's self pretty well if properly equipped.
Just let him get it so you can give him hell every time you have to strap him out with your "little" Jeep.

I don't know anything about them offroading but when I see the folks around here in the high falutin burbs drive one, they usually fall into the jerk catagory (using my nice words)
I polled my girl friends and we all agree on two things, the chicks they attract are gold diggers and the chicks that aren't wowed by them are thinking over-compensating for short comings.
But what do I know, we all married tough boys and our idea of dressing up is clean jeans and putting on the pair of boots that aren't totally broken in yet.

iirc the H2 comes in at approx. 6-7klbs. curb weight.
The drive axel assem is based upon a much better design from a company that builds the system to work independent of each wheel, so that if one wheel is completely usless the other 3 will still work to grip. Also iirc the system can have 2 wheels opposite of each other and at separte corners slipping and still can remove itself. The companies name eludes me at the moment. The hummer is also based upon a ifs which can be just as useful as solid axel if done correctly.
I presonally bought the tj and not a hummer.

I guess your implying that you put your truck on a dyno. No I don't own an SS its an HD which only comes configured as a full 4 door with a short bed and 4WD. It also has 3:73 gears not the 4:10's that causes rotten fuel economy. I haven't looked at the H2 specs but I'd guess that the H2 and my truck are close to the same weight. My pick-up weighs in a little over 2klbs. I not saying its going to beat every truck out there, some have more power and some have better fuel economy.
Sorry for the rant, I just don't like it when people post stuff like that when it isn't true.

Here's the best reason yet to NOT get an H2.......every Cuban in Miami has one. And they all sit on 26" chrome bling blings with giant sound systems in them. Every jealous husband in southern Florida buys his high maintenance wife with the fake boobies an H2 so every other testosterone ridden male knows she has a husband and is off limits. This is the image that America has of the H2. If that's the image your buddy wants, then go for it. A lifted, big tired Jeep says "I'm a rugged outdoorsman who wears flannel and can kick your ass." A blinged out H2 says "Que honda, guero? Tengo un caro largo, pero mis ninos tienen nos zapatos"
I'm sure he'll make the right decision.

I also had a 6.0 and got 7mpg out of it. My boss has a Denali and gets 12mpg out of the 6.0 in his Denali.
We arent talking about a 2,000 lb pickup with a 6.0, were talking about a 30,000 lb H2 here.. He is NOT going to see any better than 12, period. Id be suprised if he even saw double digits.
Edit: BTW, my 6.0 was also "Rated" at 340. Sorry slick, but id be very surprised if it even put down 280 hp and 320 ftlb torque. The newer 6.0s have a crap load of Torque management built into the computer, designed to save the driveline components from its "power." You give it gas, it cuts timing. I was seeing timing retard 28 and higher during WOT. Not once did my 03 come anywhere close to 340 hp... I think you might have the 1/2 ton "SS" which is built for playing in the street more than anything else. My buddy had a 3/4 ton ext cab short bed. Put intake/exhaust and a programmer on it, and was pushing 350 hp 410 ft lbs of torque. I dont think he had 340/360 stock

Range Rover, Lexus LX 470, Lincoln Navigator

Engine is from a 3/4 ton chevy pick up, the Tahoe Denali, Caddillac Escalade etc. Basically its the 6.0, its a gas HOG and produces low HP for a chevy small block...
the rest is a Tahoe, yes.

H2 Does not have a 4:1 T-case, I am pretty sure that they are on 37" BFG All-Terrains, and the rear Electric locker is Problematic, to say the least. Ok, So that leaves Skid plates. Not baggin on you Rawkon, just the H2..
