Crzy4harly Ok, now I feel like an idiot. Anyway, I did find the problem for the tops of the door window frames not matching up with the windshield frame. I was messing around with the padding on the roll bars, and noticed that under the padding was a set screw that allows the roll bars to be adjusted. Once I loosened the set screw, and the two brace plates between the windshield and the dashboard, I was able to push the windshield frame back to match up with the door window frame.

Oh well, learn as you go huh!!

Crzy4harly Yes I ca post pictures, but unfortunately, not for another week. My daughter just left for a visit with other family members, and took the digital camera with her.

anyway, no i cant make any adjustment here that I can see. THe window frame on the door, matches up perfectly with the windshield frame at the point where the door window frame connects to the body of the door. But there is that inch or inch and a half gap at the top for the door window frame to the windshield frame.

Anyway, as soon as the daughter get home, I will post some pictures. Hopefully you all will be able to spot the problem right a way!!!

4Jeepn Pic's as stated above would help, but at the same time can you reset the door hinges to tighten up the fit at all. I had to do that on my old CJ a lot. If that fails, go find some one with a YJ door and see if you can test fit theirs in and compare it to what you have. also any chance there is a section of trim missing around the gap area?

87 wrangler steel doors

I have a 1987 wrangler with a hard top and steel doors. The doors are not the originals (I know this because under the chipping paint, I can see that the used to be a different color).

Anyway, these doors fit the hinges and door latches, but the angle of the top of the door frame does not match up with the angle of the windshield frame. At the bottom of the windshield (and the bottom of the door window) it lines up fine. But at the top of the windshield (and top of the door window) there is about an inch or inch and a half gap.

I'm sure the windshield angle is correct, because of the top is connected to the roll bar, and it cant be moved back and forth.

So i'm wondering, do I have YJ doors, or maybe CJ doors? Or, are the 87 doors different than other years of YJ's?

Anybody know for sure?
