|Tony 76||By the way how do I put a picture of my jeep on my profile|
|02-12-2011 05:23 PM|
|Tony 76||Yea I think it's good it's not that bad after I tweaked it a little this morning . I just want to make sure it's sitting properly|
|02-12-2011 05:06 PM|
|computeruser||The back end should be a touch higher, seeing as that is where the variable load (i.e. cargo and passengers) goes, whereas the front sees less variability. Nothing looks worse than a saggy-ass Wrangler...|

|Tony 76||Yea I think your right Jeff thanks again man. I'm gonna try that. If in a month or two It's not settled I'm gonna say the he'll with it and it's gonna go up. By up I mean its getting a lift.|

I say drive it a bit and see if things settle after a few miles.

|Tony 76||Ok so your brothers YJ is level that means somethings definitely wrong with mine cause it sits lower in the front|

|BlaknBlu||Getting ready to head over to my brothers to install a RC 4" lift on his stock 92 YJ. It is sitting stock and level now.|

|Tony 76||P.S. Keep in mind I work at my families auto body shop so Iam a body man and I know that the YJ flares are shaped different from fronts to rears so that will make some one think the rear is higher but it's not that I'm lookin at the bottom of the body right underneath the doors Thanks in advance for any help.|

|Tony 76||Well I loosened up the shackle bolts on the front and the rear of the vehicle just to make sure when i did the rears i didnt make any mistakes back there also and it went up about another inch in front and came down an inch in the rear wich completely caught me by surprise didn't expect that and it helped, definitely, closer but to me it still seems a little higher from the back does any one have a YJ that's still stock height and that can tell me if they'res sits like mine or is it even. And Thanks for the replys I'm getting closer it's better.|

|computeruser||Looks very OEM to me. If you want to level it out, a bit longer of a shackle on the front should do you fine, maybe a 1/2" lift shackle or thereabouts.|
|02-12-2011 09:45 AM|
|Tony 76||Lmao I just thought about what you said about a fat person in the back but then my gas mileage will suffer.|

Actually you were a big help. You brought it to my attention that the shackles were leaning forward. So I called a place near where I live that makes and installs leaf springs its there specialty. And I explained what I did and what you noticed about the shackles and right away he asked me how I tightened everything up? He meant in what sequence it seems that because I had the jeep up on 4jack stands on the chasis and 2 on the diff kind of also putting pressure up on the diff and I tightened it up that way that it could be that,he recommends that when tightening it one should tighten the diff after one just pushes the leaf bolts threw the shackles and the chasi and just finger tighten the bolts then when the diff is tight you drop the vehicle then tighten the leaf shackle and the more stationery bolt.I'm gonna try and jack it up put it on four stands on the chasis I'm gonna loosen all the bolts on the leafs minus the diff and that should let everything fall into place the guy thinks the stands on the diff is what messed everything up so I'll let you know how I make out in a couple hours when I get a chance to try it if not I'm taking your advice on the two inch lift on the front
thanks let you know how I make out

Ummm, get a fat person to sit in the back seat?
The shackles should be fine with new bushings. I know you said you want to keep it stock height, but if the springs are stock replacements, I am currently at a loss. Maybe a 2" lift for the front only to level it out and then if you do get off the beaten path, you wont rub your fenders as easily.
Sorry I am not of more help.

It defeniatly has a stink bug stance. In the first pic, the front shackles look to be leaning a bit forward. My shackles are almost straight up and down at ride height. Are the springs from an actual Jeep dealer or a automotive dealer that sold you the Jeep? If the latter, he may have gotten the springs from different suppliers.
The shocks would not really matter on the ride height so blown shocks while giving a bad ride, would not make it sit lower.
I am attaching a couple of links of stock replacement springs, and it looks like they are a 5 and 4 leaf pack.

Can you post up a couple of pics of your Jeep/springs. I don't recall what my stock springs had, but I am sure someone on here can answer that for you.
By the way, welcome to the forum.

New leaf springs yj looks higher from the back
I want to keep my YJ stock height. So when my rear leaf spring broke I replaced both rears. And. Obviously it looked much higher from the rear so I recently installed the two fronts and the jeep still sits higher from the back now I bought the leaf springs from the jeep dealer but they gave me rear leaf spring with 5 leafs and front leaf springs with 4 leafs he told me thats what it calls for. It's an 89 YJ with a 4cyl. Can it be that my shocks are blown an if they were would they really make such a notice able difference it's atleast 2 maybe 3 inches in difference.any help is greatly appreciated
