La Bestia Hello guys! I took my car to the dealership today and they were able to duplicate the failure mode. They will replace my power steering pump. Thanks everyone for your valuable input!

Lumberjack_MC When I had this issue on my old dodge ram it was the stabilizer, it looked fine but when removed the problem went away. I just purchased a new stabilizer and installed it, no problems after that. Try to remove the stabilizer and drive it around a bit.

dwindeck If you have a way, jack both fronts off the ground and grab a tire and see if it's fairly easy to go full left to right. If there's no real resistance then your looking at something with the power steering pump maybe. Is the power steering fluid good?

X50ARM Looks like the stabilizer was rubbed on something in the pics. I'd pull it and go for a drive.

Captain Ahab Just mud? or some rocks? I can only think of the stabilizer, as well. It's the only thing there to resist steering motion.

La Bestia It may be pressure. It is magnified when moving from zero into a sharp turn (like parking). I hope I did not damage anything... And as far as I see it still in 2wd....

flyfishnevada Did you put it back in two wheel drive? Leaving it in four wheel drive bind things and might make the steering feel a bit stiff. Just a thought. I mean, it's not like I've ever done anything like that

dwindeck I'm sure it doesn't apply to your situation , I doubt you aired down but, is your air pressure normal. Any chance you bent your steering stabilizer? Or it's just tweaked a bit. Just throwing out ideas because I have no clue why this would happen.

Stiff steering aftet offroading

Hi everyone! Last week I took my new jeep off-roading (and mudding) for the first time. After this my steering is significantly stiffer. I've hosed my chassis, wheels, tires, under the good and everywhere buy it does not get any softer. Any idea of what this could be? Had anyone had the same happened?
