debruins if you plan on doing any wheelinga t all ge tthe rubi, becasue sooner or later youll get hooked and end up spending more money in the long run buying all the parts to upgrade it

and the gas mileage will be the exact same

and as Joe said (absolute offroad) if your really pinched for money you can sell the wheels(about 1k) and buy new ones for around $300, but 700 is not the difference between rubi and X

but if you can swing it get the rubi!

Jase Yes, its worth the money.. I am a bit biased though

I even turned down a dealer lifted X on 33s, JK 4-door with interior upgrades that my woman wanted me to get because I saw the Rubi sitting there.

X/Rubicon

I opted for the X with several options. The X will
more than handle the driving conditions I encounter.
What are your needs and wants that should help
you make a decision. Wranglers hold there value and
pre-owned sell well. Lots of folks out there ready to
rebuild and create the dream Jeep of their own.
Good luck!

jjseel Rubi! (I wish I had D44 in front!)

binaryking I see this all the time. The Rubicon is a good choice if you can afford it, I say do it. Not only are the mods worth the price, bigger tires, 4:1 transfer case, lockers, gears, armor...but if you want to sell it or trade it in later on, it'll be worth more.

People usually want the cheapest vehicle they can find, and then wonder why their 4 cyl sedan with no AC and a 5 speed isn't worth that much come trade in time. Just my two cents.

AzTJ They are all the same from the factory- depending on what you end up doing to them

But if your looking long term, go for the Rubicon.

falconx Thanks aztj,

Let say that I am a newbie on the trails but I know I like it and I want to get the best for my bucks from a long term perspective. Also I am concern about gas mileage is the rubicon much worst in term of gas consumption.

Absolute Offroad YES. 100 Percent If you plan to wheel it. The Rubicon has the 4:1 transfer case, High Pinion Dana 44 in the front (versus a High pinion Dana 30) Bigger U-joints in the front also, a Dana 44 with 32 spline axles in the rear, VS the "X" which will have a D44 but with 30 spline axles, has the electronic sway bar disconnect and it also has LOCKERS STOCK front and rear. Can you add all of this to an "X"??? Yes...IF it was available. Right now, (7-16-07) there are no lockers for the non-Rubicon Axles. Plus it comes with a nifty hood decal.... And wheels that you can sell for 1000 bucks PLUS when you lift it!!!

AzTJ How much wheel do you do or plan on doing? If your serious about getting into it, then the Rubicon will be the best "bang for your buck" as it has a lot of the wanted mods needed that would later be needed.

rubicon vs base model x

Hi guys,

simple question here

I will trade my old jeep cherokee 1999 this fall for a new wrangler 2007 2 doors.

Now I am not an expert in jeep, so Is it worth the money to get the rubicon instead of the base model.

Any comments would be welcome since I find the difference on the price tag quite something.

Thanks

Frank
