coyote4twenty In pulling the dashboard out, perhaps a little to quickly, I somehow snapped off the toggle switch that I have as an engine kill switch, but that has been repaired now.

coyote4twenty I was actually just thinking of drilling 2 new holes into the windshield bracket to attach the mirror bracket.

blueroo You could MIG-weld the brackets on...that's what we ended up doing on my buddy's YJ.

Thanks everyone for your help

Thanks everyone for your help. Now that I realize that there are nuts on the back, I have pretty much given up on the notion of getting those bolts off. It figures, the one and only part of the Wrangler that has bolts with nuts on the end are the ones you need to remove for the bracket. Good luck all.

kelt348 i actually just tried to install the mirror relocators and ran into the same problem. didnt have any wrenches long enough to reach up there. i decided to get the olympic 4x4 safari mirrors instead

daddyjeep You can get to them without removing the dash. It's really a pain in the arse. It would be easier with two people, but I managed by myself. I taped the nut to the wrench to get it back together because you can only work by feel and there isn't enough room to start them by hand.

The receiver nuts are only in the windshield frame on the upper half of the hinge. The bottom half bolts to the tub and has regular nuts on them way the heck up under the windshield/cowl area. I had to fold down my windshield, loosen up the entire dash and pull it out far enough to get my hand with a wrench in it up there to hold the nut...never again. I replied to your PM coyote...forgot to tell you one thing though. Have a can of PB Blaster on hand, and soak those bolts!

The same thing is happening on the passenger side, so it is not just one bolt. Any help is much appreciated.
