ghendrix6 I think, JeeperJake was asking how a thief could steel the jeep without the proper transducer key.

jeffk42 I think what he means is, how does a thief start the Jeep when the ignition requires the transducer key to be in close proximity?

And if I had to guess, I'd say they probably have some sort of alternate ignition system with them, they cut the stock one and wire theirs in its place. I don't know if that would work, but that's about as good a guess as I can come up with.

You still use the very same keys that come with the jeep, no key has been replaced. The alarm is a module which is connected to the stock keyless entry system to expand the functions. Once connected, it adds the following
options which you can decide if you activate them or not as long as the required connection is made:

Chirp confirmation - sounds horn when armed

Last door arming - arms when the last door is closed

automatic rearming - automatic rearms if unlock is pressed but a door is not opened within specified seconds

doors lock with last door arming activated

doors lock with auto rearming

ignition controled door lock/unlock - locks the doors when the ignition is turned on and unlock when is turned off

anti-carjacking - when the vehicle is turned on, if a door is opened and the valet switch is not pressed the vehicle will turn off after one minute and sound the alarm. (I don't like this because if you remove the doors it may give you problems)

It has a connector for an optional motion sensor, this is good when you are running topless as the alarm will go off as soon as it detects an object moving inside your jeep. I have to buy this, it cost around 30 bucks on amazon, the alarm shop wanted to charge me 125 for it.

Plus it does all the nice standard things of an alarm when it goes off, sound the siren in different tones, flash the lights, sound the car horn, disable the ignition.

Hope this answers all your questions.

Thank you for your reply, it seems that most people here don't install alarms on their jeeps 'cause I only got 1 reply.

I got today a OMEGA Proline AL-100DP. This alarm is like an upgrade to the cheap alarm that comes with the JK, good thing is that you turn it on or off using the very same remote controls the JK came with.

better alarm and overhead console question

I was getting my wheels/tires balanced today. At the tire shop they suggested me to install a better alarm system because they already heard of some customers complaining about theft. One of the stories was a JK which lock was "pulled out" and the thief silenced the alarm, he stole everything he found inside, including all the sound system. The other one was another JK which was stolen from the person house at night about a week ago and hasn't been found yet. They said Jeeps are so easy to get it that it will be better to get a better alarm with a motion sensor. Can any of you guys recommend one to me?

The next question is, has anyone installed this in a 2011 4 door JK?

Bestop Trailmax Overhead Console

If you have, can it be use with the hard top and with the safari bikini when the hard top is removed?

Thank you guys.
