mistert Your right, I was in law enforcement for 24 years. I also taught school for quite some time and it doesn't matter what profession your talking about, there are a#*holes in all of them. It's definitely an ego and power trip for the pricks. I did not like issuing a ticket and I did not like turning in students to the office for a repremand unless it was absolutely necessary.

mistert Hey 4point...when you say with the TJ ther is no flash required, does that mean it recalibrates itself when it detects modifications?

Triple88a I dont think my buddy did anything since it was a warning.. Its about time they start checking the crooked cops though. In my town cops are getting cought obussing their power left and right.. usually once a week here there is a case on the news about a cop that gets a slap on the wrist. The one case that got everything going was a cop goes to a bar. Orders a drink catches the woman (bartender) and starts beating up on her and threatens her that he is a cop and he can do whatever he wants to her. Too bad the bar had a video camera...

foxinthemudd I never said just to go through. I would however fight the ticket and ask the judge why the intersection has not been properly addressed for safty precautions and why a ticket was recieved for being cautious. I was just making an observation of something worse the officer could have done in leu of the warning.

foxinthemudd just think he is lucky, the officer could've gave him a ticket for impeading traffic. or ridin' dirty like my buddy pulled me over for, lol

Triple88a A friend of mine got pulled over for stopping on a intersection where there was no stopsign. 2 big roads come together with big buildings on each corner and he didnt have a stopsign but stopped since he didnt see if any one was coming.. a cop pulled him over and gave him a warning for stopping on that intersection because its dangerous... my buddy was also with a permit..

foxinthemudd ya sounds like he just wanted to be an a$$hole that day. I don't get some people and why they just don't take the extra time and have things fixed or just go the extra mile, its not like it takes much time or anything.

debruins well it would have been fine with me if he had been like behind me and then turned his lights on, but he was deliberatly wating there behind the bank watiting for someone from out of twon who didnt know that there was a stop sign there, it seems like if they knew that there was that problme htey should have moved the bank instead of having a policeman there becasue thenno one would do it, i twas just something they did to make money and they didnt care about the safety of the people, if they did they would have moved the bank back!

I hope I don't offend anyone here, but being in law enforcement I can relate to this story. we see so many accidents from people running lights and signs its unreal, and the amount of deaths we have to see I wish that upon non of you. I still get pulled over and could get a ticket for some things I do like speeding etc... but just remember were just doing our job and we don't know who were pulling over or dealing with so please just be respectful and help us out when you can. hope I didn't piss anyone off too bad on my tangent. oh and sorry for jacking the thread

debruins or you could do the new tire diameter divided by the old tire diameter, and then multiply that # by the mph that your speedo says to ge the real #

for ex.
33/29=1.138
1.138*50=57, so when your speedo reads 50 your going 57
07-22-2007 02:45 PM
Triple88a to see how much ur speedo will be off try that.. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

Rockodile '03 TJ 37's with 513's 14 mpg highway.
07-20-2007 05:17 PM
Walkeraviator Well no. At a higher RPM the motor is moving more air therefore moving more fuel. So your mileage might not change much at all, but the lifespan of your engine should improve in 6th. Its amazing what you learn about motors when you work on ricers with turbos for a while...

What I want to do is get a fuel computer that measures in Gallons per hour GPH like an airplane and do some experimenting on what works best for fuel mileage.
07-20-2007 04:35 PM
Triple88a ^ so pretty much let say you have 6 speed manual tranny.. isntead of driving on 6th speed with 50 mph.. you should drive on 5th where there is a little more power?
07-20-2007 01:38 PM
Walkeraviator Gettin back to my math from earlier i was all wrong. As tire size increases, RPM at a given speed will decrease as Revs per mile decrease.
At 60 mph w/3.07 gears and the automatic transmission in Drive(torque converter locked up)

215/75R15 - 2300RPM
235/75R15 - 2211RPM
31x10.50 - 2061RPM

The problem is that with more unslung mass, the throttle will have to be open more to make a little more power which means more gas being used.

Walkeraviator Since its my thread i guess i will approve the highjacking since i have the best cop story ever..

I actually got qa DWW (Driving while white). I was in a bad part of Daytona Beach around 1 AM with the top off. I was sitting behind this cop at a red light. He went straight as I turned left to head home... I spotted him making a u-turn, and got nervous so I dropve text book. I broke no law.... He pulls me over.

His words... the only reason white guys come down here is to buy "stuff" at this time of night. then he said he didnt care why i was down there but that i should never go down there at night. He was afraid I would be car jacked and killed( apparently they carjacked a city cop once). So then I thought I was off the hook and he would let me go... Oh no... he had to come up with a legitimate reaosn to pull me over...

License plate light was not bright enough!!!! WTF... i explained to him that if that were the case then the left brake light wasnt bright enough but he didnt listen.

So anyways there is my addition the highjacking my own thread

Dare2BSquare Well, since we hijacked the thread already...

Arkansas has a law that you must move over into the left lane while passing a police car who has lights on while on the shoulder at a traffic stop.
Some yahoo cops were parking behind each other on the shoulder with one having their lights on, and stopping anyone who didn't change into the left lane.
Judge threw that one out, and the cops were issued reprimands.

With 33"s get 4:56 gears and the speedo gear to go along with it. Then from what I've come to understand, you can "flash" the computer to recalibrate for the tire size. That will give you an accurate reading, and keep you from getting speeding tickets too.
With the TJ there is no flash required.

ive had a cop lower my ticket to get me into the lower point range.. but he also tried to say i ran a stop sign..

funny thing is that i stopped at a gas station right next to the stop sign and he tried to say i ran it going down the highway.. and i turned onto the other road that crossed the highway when leaving the gas station.. which means there was no way i ran the sign like he indicated

but also.. ive had a cop raise my speed up once.. when i talked to the judge about it he said that i have the right to ask the cop to show me the radar gun to prove that i was going the speed that he said i was going.

the cop that tried to raise my speed, his son was caught steeling out of my house and my dad pulled a gun out on him.. the same cop has parked outside my house and pulled me over while walking up my driveway trying to say i was about to egg my own house..

Maybe in your state, but I'm in law enforcement and don't, nor have we ever, done stuff like that.
