jeepjones Electric fans only complicate things in the long run, I figure too many things can go wrong. The temp sensor switch can fail, the fan motor can fry out if water/mud/dirt gets into it, the blades can break off (plastic), if any of those things happen out on the trail your day is over and depending on where you are it could put your life in danger. Keep the mechanical fan, just make sure the fan clutch is working properly.

schnutzy there will not be enough of a difference to notice.

the only time an electric fan really has any benifits with a factory motor, is when you spend a lot of time in very deed mud and get tired of destroying your fan clutches. just make sure there is a switch for it so you dont break the fan blades.

also, what makes you feel you have lost power? was it a jump to taller tires? if so, the only wa yto gain back that lost power is to install deeper gears. if your still rolling stock, or are geared up for the current tires, then you may just need a good tune up.

computeruser Why would you give up a reliable, OEM-designed cooling mechanism that works just fine for some aftermarket contraption? For a couple HP? Seriously.

QUESTION??! gaining lost power

ok so i understand that there are alot of threads about changing from mechanical fans to electric, but i was woundering?

would replacing the mechanical fan on a '05 TJ with the 2.5L I4 6speed man with an electric fan aid in reducing stress on the motor, possibly gaining lost power (not alot but sum).

correct me if im wrong and please im all ears to suggestions and opinions (im not the jeep god)

Thanks
