Let's talk about call #2. lol
You live pretty close to me and your 26. Let's say we go wheeling and some how we both get stuck. I'm not letting you call mom, because I'm almost twice your age and I'm afraid what she would say to me.

Accuse me Mrs Pmedg is there any chance after we get your sons jeep out on the mud, You could help me hook a tow rope to my roll cage and pull me back up on to my wheels.lmao

Hahahaha, she is a pretty good sport given all of the things my brother and i have gotten ourselves into over the years with cars, go-karts, and boats. as long as we give it a few months we should be ok.

jspeer1130 all's well that ends well, no jeeps or people were harmed in the making of this thread

Jeff I feel your pain I was in nice clothes as well. Loafers covered in mud, fur lined coat covered in mud, I’m pretty sure it will all buff out, but diggin myself out dressed up made me consider leaving a pair of crappy clothes in the trunk area of the Jeep.

Kate If you can't laugh at yourself when stuff like this happens... then you're not having enough fun!

well put geoff, i would def classify this as an adventure. and the test drive of the 4wd was a lot of fun.

LCJeeper Cheap insurance.....Invest in a HiLift jack and a Strap or chain....
02-22-2011 02:45 PM
Pmedg yeah the street tires def need to go, as does my desire to try things i know i shouldnt just to see if i can. but now that i am no longer stuck I can look back and laugh about it. i'll have to snap a picture of the hill at some point to post, i was pretty impressed that my 100% stock TJ made it up to the top w/o issue (of course that is only half way).

PecosRiver I wheel alone all the time, but I am on very familiar trails and forest roads. If I had to wait for a friend, I'd never get out. Still, I'm very careful and don't do serious wheeling alone.
02-22-2011 01:06 PM
The Ugly Jeep Are those all season tires? You were definitely brave (or nuts) going it alone.....
We've all done something hairbrained at one time or another. Glad you made it home in one piece.
02-22-2011 10:51 AM
Pmedg Yeah def will think twice about doing that again. In the end its a funny story, thanks to those who shared theirs as well, makes me feel a little better about getting stuck.

knnphillips What are you talking about wheeling by yourself is fun until your stuck and scratching your head.
02-22-2011 10:22 AM
530ktm I am sure you are not the only one who has gone off and wheeled alone, I know I have. You just have to be careful so you don't get yourself in this situation again.
02-22-2011 10:18 AM
Pmedg Here are some pictures for your enjoyment. Once i got it out I had it sitting on top of the hill like bambi's dad looking proud but my phone was dead so i couldnt get a shot.
02-22-2011 10:16 AM
NHrubicon what, no pictures to go with the story? Spoils all the fun...LOL
02-22-2011 10:13 AM
knnphillips Hey don't worry buddy one day we decided to go mudding on a pipeline we all got in some nasty rutted up stuff the first 2 jeeps got stuck so me the third in line had to wait for the one behind me to back up because I couldn't make it out of the slick ruts the fourth one couldn't back up so we were all stuck in a line with nothing to winch to needless to say that was a long night.

Broke Rule #1

Since buying my Jeep in December I haven’t had the opportunity to take it off road yet. I was trying to be patient but i ran out and ended up breaking rule #1 "Don't Go Alone." BIG MISTAKE! I was driving home and saw a giant rocky hill leading up to some power lines and I just couldn’t help myself I had to see if I could make it up a little ways and then i was going to come down. Problem is it seemed so easy so I kept going and got over the top only to get stuck. Tried reversing and just dug deeper. The only tool i had to try and dig out with was a snow scraper for my windshield (not very effective). Eventually I called my brother who brought my friend and I some shovels and we got to work. 2 hours later we moved a lot of snow but hadn’t gotten the Jeep to budge. Call #2 went out for a ride to home depot to get some boards to put under the wheels (mom was not pleased to get this call from her 26 year old son who no longer lives at home as "you are too old too be doing this kind of stuff and should know better", but took us anyway so we wouldn’t be stranded). After getting back from home depot and spending another hour we had still not budged. Made phone call #3 to try and get a truck to tow us out. (I really wish i had bought a winch or lockers i would have been out in no time). The truck came and couldn’t make it up the first 20ft of the hill. I was laughing on the inside as his truck was 80k and mine $2,500 and I made it, but also sad as I had to get back to digging. Well at 1pm my buddy and I made it home covered in mud and learned first hand why Rule #1 is so important. Hope you all get a good laugh at my dumb mistake; it was too stupid a move not to share.
