If you want to maintain streetability, I'd say 2.5 inch lift with 31s. If you have a 6 cylinder, you may need to regear eventually with anything above 31s.
My cousin had 33s with a 4" lift on his TJ for quite some time, but after many hard off road excursions, his local shop (who was supposed to do an alignment for him) told him his Jeep was not suited for street use because the Jeep was so beat up underneath lol. He went down to 30's last week, but he rolled his Jeep on the road recently because he had to swerve out of the way of another car.
My friend has 31 BFGs on his TJ. For a 4 cylinder Jeep, that thing does good off road. Better than my stock YJ lol.
My stock 28s suck.
Btw a 2.5 inch lift with 33s would be a tight fit. If you want 33s, id go 4 inch lift

|Pullsout||one problem your going to have to face is trying to find that fine line between good road ride and good off road ride. 31's are a good start they won't throw you into to bad if any wheel wobble but they also won't really keep your diffs off the ground very well if you go do any true mudding. This is mine on 31's on and off road. the on raod one is 32's can't seem to find an on road with the 31's|

|Dan.Jess92||Thanks, I love it. i got it for new years and dont want a 2010 one that i would never put in mud. but i dont have little tires either there not stock uhm 28 or 29s i believe it doesnt look bad im gonna soon post pics but i love the low and mean look just trying to figure out what to do with it without losing its ride either.|

Stock YJ's are few and far between these days. You have a blank palette there waiting for you to do something great. A stock YJ may not look as impressive as one with a 4" lift and 33's, but it's still a Jeep and therefore part of the family.
Take your time building it and above all, have fun.

no lift 30x9.50 tires on stock wheels. rubs at reall tight turns.

|Dan.Jess92||Well yeah done is an understatement, then comes the winch and different front and back fenders and etc it never ends but hes where hes happy with it, mine i look at and feel like its small, def. not satisfied but thanks il look into the lift|

I've never heard of anyone actually being "done" with a Wrangler build.
You can fit 31's on stock springs but you may occasionally rub a fender. And you will definitely rub the springs in a turn without spacers or backing out the steering bump-stops. You may want to consider a modest 2.5 inch lift. It will allow you to run your 31's safely.

Hey, my boyfriend and I are new to this :) question...
We both have yj Wranglers, his is a 95 and mine is a 92. His is all done We've added a 4 inch lift kit with 33's new paint job and all . Mine is just in the process of where i want to get it at and im indecisive.
does anyone have a wrangler with NO LIFT. 31 Mud terrains and spacers? Im not sure if thats what i want to do with it, so i really want to see some pics , please and thanks if any one can help
