BenDiem Hi all,

Have not posted in a while.. I had a Borla catback on my old '00 Wrangler, and I absolutely loved the sound and the exhaust tip. I thought the exhaust provided a slight boost in fuel economy, especially when you consider that adding the exhaust only made me floor the gas pedal more often, just to hear the exhaust rumble/bark... No discernible performance improvement, based solely on my butt dynamometer.

The exhaust was a quality piece, considering the Million Mile warranty... But hey, that is just me...

I am looking to do the same on my JK. The only thing holding me back is that I want a new JK, because I really like what JEEP did w/the interior upgrades and the painted hard top option for 2011. Moreover, I'm also considering waiting for the 2012 when the new engine should be available...

Decisions, decisions...

Either way, after owning my '10 JK for approx 18 months, I love my JK more and more.

Cheers all,

BB

RaiderRUBICON Good info guys!!! question, how come no one ever mentions Borla exhaust?? Is it not a good system????

I didn't know it takes about a year for the exhaust system to settle.

We all agree here, the cat back systems by quadratec will not make your Jeep slower at any RPM, right??? does anybody disagree?

JIMBOX My Flowmaster 40 cat-back has "broken in" now after 1 yr and 5000 miles and the sound is really stupendous, BECAUSE-

Just like my muscle cars-for a muffler to show its full potential and not just for performance -the secondary exhaust pipe (after muffler) has to be at least 6'-that allows the exhaust pulses to combine in a TONE !!

In drag engines you make the short exhaust pipes (depending on v6/v8 rpm), to "scavengage" the exhaust for more HP and higher rpm and with mufflers you make the exhaust pipe length for exhaust pulses for "TONE"

Bet you don't really care !! heh heh-I do, thats why mine sounds so pleasant, with rap/burgle and quiet at 60/70 mph-no drone, unless you're in the wrong gear !

Peepers Exhausts take a few hours of running to "get settled" and reach their final tone.

jrohan07 Got Gibson dual exhaust installed...
Well after reading all the forums pros and cons on the gibson dual exhaust I pulled the trigger and got a new one with a coupon for 50 dollars off.Took off the huge stock can and lets just say it was a pain in the butt to remove. Used lots of wd40 to get the hangers out of the rubber gromets holding the stock exhaust and with bleeding knuckles and lots of choice words. Tip if you do not want to keep your stock exhaust use a dremmel or cutting tool. The new gibson went on very easily and after disconnecting the negative battery cable and then connecting it I fired her up in the garage with door open of course and she had a real nice rumble. Stepped on the gas and it was LOUD. I am like what the heck, did not realize that it would be that louder than stock.I have a hardtop 4 door AUTO so I went for a drive with the windows down on take off sounded really good but when I reached 60 it sounded like I had a hole in my exhaust. Pull over and check all connections for leaks and all was good. Next I took off the 2 freedom panels and with the windows up at 60 did not sound so bad, roll windows down again with tops off and hole in exhaust sound again.I began to question my decision but after driving it for an hour on all types of roads and speeds it seems to settle in on the nice sound. I am learning to like it.As an increase in power from stock...absolutely NONE. I almost ordered a CAI to but that would have made the sound worse. I recommend you get one or the other if you just like a sound change or looks and if I had to do it again I would have orderd the Gibson single exhaust but I like the look of the dual.

kik Almost ent with the Gibson but we didn't want a loud cat back dual exhaust so we got the Rugged Ridge dual cat back SS exhaust. However, I went with the Gibson slash cut tips. Very satisfied with it. Not too loud and really no noticable droning at speed. You are going to hear it but it sounds good. The test was that my wife said if it it ends up to be too loud it's coming off. Almost a year and it's still on.

Thanks for your help!
If you don't want to hear it, keep your stock exhaust. The two you mentioned are pretty pricey to not want to hear it when you drive it...

LAXADAISICAL616 I have the Gibson Dual Exhaust, definitely has some attitude. Depends on the person but I like it. Didn't have a choice, however, the previous owner had installed it

Need Exhaust Advice!

The JK GIBSON performance DUAL EXHAUST how is it? Or The Corsa DB dual performance exhaust?

Which one is better?

- I don't want an annoying droning sound while i'm driving!

Thanks for your help!
