Would love to see some updates and see how the paint job looks. It was kinda anticlimactic reading through the thread on my phone and ending with the tub laying in the yard.
I've got an 01 Yellow TJ, so I liked the way yours looked with the Rampage Bowless top. How well has it held up, and how does it work in the snow? I'm in Tahoe about to go through my first winter without a hardtop, and I think I want the Rampage.
Would love to see some after pics

Thanks for the kind words. Lol I don't think this thing will ever be finished, I really want it to be driveable though. Put 2 coats of monstaliner on the bottom of the tub today. It took a little less than 1 gallon.

|Flashole||Just read through your thread and all I can say is that I wish I had half your motivation. Keep up the good work|

|ChrisJeepTJ||Wow man, great to see this kind of resourcefulness and awesome result. Looking forward to seeing how she looks painted up. I was going to say in the end, but as you know better than anyone now, there's never an end. Looks sweet and bulletproof.|

|Zjones1994||The tub looks good!|

Been working on the tub lately. Sandblasted the bottom of it and have 1 coat of primer on it as of now. I am going to lay down another coat of that then roll on some black monstaliner. I used a 2 part epoxy primer from a local paint shop. The body mounts were all solid and there was only minor surface rust around most of the spotwelds.
Sandblasted and primed.
I'm getting tired of looking at this every time I walk in my garage. Hopefully there's some good weather soon so I can get this thing finished. Well at least closer to finished.

Outcruzin: My first step was to make the mounting points for the tub and the grille. From there I tacked the tubes in place until I got the desired look. I did the longest piece first that mounted to the tub side mount, then the piece that mounts to the grille mount, then the piece in between. After that the bar that runs down at an angle, and the mounting for that into the tube side mount. Then I did the sheetmetal top and inner fenderwell. Hope that makes sense.
It's been a while since my last update so I'll post some current pics up later when I get some more time.

|outcruzin||Hey do you have any pics of your tube fenders when you started them im trying to make some but no sure where to start?|

Yep the plasti-dip was for looks only. I think I got at least 5hp from it though.
Also mounted a 2.5lb fire extinguisher on the back of the driver side B pillar. I would like to add a few more though as a 2.5 isn't very big. This isn't something to skimp on as I've been witness to a few vehicle fires and a buddy almost lost his cherokee the other day to bad winch wiring.

did you spray this on the tires for performance or cosmetic purposes? if it is performance, what does it enhance?

Frame slider. The hole on the side is for access to the front bolt. It hangs down ~5mm past the driveshaft. Hopefully it will provide some protection.
Savvy steering mostly in. Just need to put the steering stabilizer in.
Much beefier than stock.

I finally did the tummy tuck. I also did a engine/tranny skid that bolts to it. Full protection now. I made some frame sliders to protect the front driveshaft a bit but the paint's drying now so no pics.

|nastyrider17||More like the whole jeep. I got some other things to do first and I also gotta wait for some nice weather. I'm going out this weekend too so no paint yet. Eventually I'll have this thing to where I want it but for now I gotta make compromises so I can wheel.|
|04-26-2012 05:57 PM|
Now just gota paint the winshield frame:P

|nastyrider17||Got the front bumper done today. I gotta order some shackle mounts and burn em in but at least I have a bumper. I can just loop the strap around it anyways.|

I finally got around to doing the rear bumper today. A section of 2x4x3/16, reciever hitch from TSC, a 2" strip of 3/16, and some grade 8 harware is what it took. I painted it with rattle can bedliner.

A few recent pics. I've just been driving it around lately making sure I didn't overlook anything/checking if everything works as it should. The rear shocks bottom out at the same point when the bumpstops hit so I think a .5" bumpstop spacer should take care of that. Front doesn't hit at all but I'd like to add a .75" spacer to level it out as the rear sits a bit higher. That means I don't need to change the shock mounts at all.
Loaded up to go riding.

She lives! I drove it about a foot forward too but not in this video. I need an exhaust now so give me ideas on what to get. I want to replace the cat and everything behind it. At the end of the video you can see me look back at my neighbors, they came outside to see what the noise was.
Also got the Novak cable shifter in. Installation was a bitch, took about 2 hours, but so far I like it. I just need to adjust it a little so I can get into 4lo.

Got a new windshield frame/glass. I picked one up from Car World for 200$ with glass. Cleaned it up and bolted it in. Like my Skyjacker sticker that came on it? :lol:
I also wrestled with my gas tank for a while trying to bench press it in to place but my skid was so fucked none of the bolt holes would line up. I didn't like how low it hung anyways. My solution, cut out a few tabs and weld them in, then just strap the tank in the back. If I have any problems with this set up then I'll do something different.
When filling it up with coolant I got about a gallon deep then noticed this...
New radiator in.
Also, I bent the steering shaft while removing the tub. Here's the new one I fabbed up. The square tube is 1/8", I added the strip of 3/16" for strength. I reused the stock Ujoints, just cut the bent tube out and weld the new one in.

Got the tub on. I had to rent a skid steer cause it was getting sketchy using high lift jacks. I didn't really feel like using buddies to do it after seeing it fall a few times.

Got the drivetrain and steering in today. This was a PITA cause my harbor freight engine crane decided to take a nap at one point which caused my tranny/tcase to get stuck under the rear axle. It took a few hours to get that mess sorted out/reconnect all the wires that got shaken loose. Snapped an engine mount bolt so I get to drill that out tomorrow. I also need new brake lines cause mine are all rotted out.

|Zjones1994||Looks really good man!|

Got the axles/suspension under it for the most part. Everything is just finger tight right now and I will get everything aligned once I get the drivetrain and body on it.
