94 YJ makes noise when letting off gas in high gear

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I just picked up a 2.5L 94 YJ the other day. This is my second Jeep (first was an '01 automatic; got rid of it because I had a long commute).

Anywho, the body on this Jeep is excellent no rot or rust to be found, very well taken care of. I knew it wasn't going to be 100% being 17 years old. When driving it home on the highway I noticed when I was in 4th or 5th and let off the gas it would start to make a loud noise that sounded like a card rubbing against spokes, but rougher. As soon as I would hit the gas it would go away.

Also, in the lower gears it shudders sometimes when accelerating.

I'm thinking it might be the synchromesh rings in the transmission.

Any ideas?
