monkers Warn emailed me back and said it could be a M8000 a M6000 or some 9000 lb winch, they can't tell unless they take it apart and count the number of teeth on some of the gears.....thought they'd be able to tell from the s/n, unless it wasn't a good number but they didn't say anything about the number....

monkers I looked on the front where it said serial #, and looks like it took a little shot there, and was scraped up. Yea, I see guys on here getting M8000s for like $479 every once in a while, so I will keep that in mind, thanks for the heads up. Ill see when and if I actually get it what is missing and broken etc....

Phil05LJ The square box houses 4 solenoids that control the motor, 2 for " in"2 for "out". It cost $200-$250 from Warn and the remote control is around $70. If you have electronic skills you can make it work by basically building your own controls that is as long as the motor will run. I have no idea what costs would be on a new motor or rebuild parts. The M8000 is relatively affordable brand new and Internet sales on them run all the time, around $500. Just a heads up on the costs! BTW, my serial # is on a sticker on the front of the motor.

monkers I dont have it yet, the guy is in the process of getting the truck back to his place, may take a couple weeks the way he moves, just gonna be a plow truck so hes in no rush, as long as it gets done before next winter lol....Looks just like the M8000, minus the black square box, Ill put up some pics when I get it here.

older warn winch ??

May have the chance to obtain an older (dont know the age) Warn winch, appears to be a M 8000, that is missing some parts and I was told "got water in the motor and dont work", the guy bought the truck with it on there and dont want it because hes mounting a plow. The square box the controller plugs into is missing, as is the controller. I emailed warn to see if I can get a parts drawing/owners manual for it. But, I cant find a serial # on it, gotta clean it up more but curious if it isnt on the outer housing is there somewhere inside they would have it? Thanks,
Craig
