Never drove it in the snow. No need really I have a 4wd pickup so I garaged it for the winter.

The Corvette still sits unfinished. I'll try to get the body done over the summer but the jeep comes first. It's more fun.

Always Stuck Wow its been a while. I've been out of commission for some time. I think sense the last time I posted I might of put 4000 miles on the jeep and to be honest a lot of the miles are from other people using it. I did go wheeling a couple of times but the setup was all wrong and I was bending the body up. I'm just about done with physical therapy and I've been fooling with the jeep again. Nice to be back.

I never did, I forgot all about it. But I have the receipts in my desk at work. Give me a little time and I'll add them up and let you know. I don't mind posting the cost.

I'm with you on the Rally wheels. I also wouldn't run side pipes. Been there/done that. Hard to hold a conversation with the pipe three feet away from your head.

However next winter I not putting a V8 in it. I'm going the try a V6 turbo setup. I still want to change the 4.88's out for 4.56's and pull the seats out and redo them. But dads all about the Vette.
Here is what I bought.

This will be the finished car.

It should be done in may. Then it's back to the Jeep. To be honest I would rather be doing the Jeep.

dave3687 so let me ask, are you doing the 350 this year? I would be interested to see how that comes out, mine is a 2.5 so I'm thinking about the 350 swap.

Do you think they would work with a 2.5 suspension lift with a 2 inch body lift? btw whish i would have went with more of a suspension lift and skipped the body lift.
With a 4" lift on the springs and a 1" body I would hit every now and then in the back with 4 adults in the Jeep on the street. I made a set of 1" shackles to solve the problem. Also I never hit the body, just the flares. I think if you add some shackles you could get away with it on the street. Wheeling, I'm not sure about that with out cutting the wheel well.

It's bad you don't live closer. I'm pulling my 4" springs out and going back to stock springs with a SOA setup this year.

MarkNog Wooooow, read this whole thing and my jeep could only dream of meeting you.... I wish I was around for the build, could have learned so much. One day when my jeep gets older and wallet gets a lil thicker, I plan on doing a ground up too.

What is your schedule the next couple weekends? I still have to meet up with you to bend that tubing for the bumper.

We can meet up when ever your ready. No rush, life is to short to rush.

I painted the top with a gloss black and put in an additive that takes the shine out of the paint, but keeps it from looking like flat black. That way when the sun hits it, it doesn't look ridiculous, it just keeps a nice black look.

Sense your ride is drivable. If you run out of weather to shoot your top your welcome to come down the garage and shoot it.

What color are you doing the top?

Rummer is true. The Vetts coming in to the garage in two weeks. I'm doing a frame up AGAIN and get it ready for spring. I'm going to give it to dad to use as long as he wants. But with that said I have some things I need to change on the Jeep, so he better be ready to work and be leave me I'm sure he is. So we have plenty to keep us busy.

the beep mechanic Riding around in a jeep with the top off is lots of fun and the way it should be.

But.

That looks good, really good with the hardtop and doors on it.

I love the fact that your dad needs the jeep for a few days.

Always Stuck Had a real busy weekend, but I managed to get the doors painted. Well at least the out side. The inside is still in prime. Didn't seem to bother dad though. He needs the Jeep today and tomorrow. I'll paint the inside during the week and order some panels.

Couple of pics for ya.

tz97wrangler I'm also doing a lot of high speed driving speed limit here is 65 but I your not doing 80 your getting passed.. But I also do a lot of trails and some of the trails have steep climbs too so Im not sure where to go with the gearing.. I'm planning on keeping the 31.5 s for now until I put a bigger lift on it.. Currently I'm able to keep my jeep about 65-70 in 4th gear but if I shift into 5th and go up any kind of an incline it slows down to 50 unless I down shift to 4th so gas milage is roughly around 10 on the highway

I'm no pro but here's what I did and what I think.

Keep in mind I'm running a 4.0

I had 3.07's, at 70-75mph I think I was around 2200rpm with a stock jeep getting 18mpg.

I went to 4.88's on 33/12.5's. I get 17.9 around town. I get 15.8 to 16 on the highway with plenty of power. Keep in mind I normally run 80 on the highway and the rpm's are up around 3000 to 3300. I do allot of highway driving so this doesn't work for me. I'm going to put in a set of 4.56's just to drop the rpm's. This will help on the highway, but I'll loose some in around town. If I can average 17 I'll be happy.

Your running a 2.5 which is a good motor. Especially geared correctly.

You need to consider your driving habits. That's going to influence what gears to run.

Where do you do most of your driving, around town or highway or is it 50/50?

How much wheeling do you do and what kind of wheeling, trails or climbing?

Also are you going back to 33's? That will make a big difference on deciding what to run.

I'd say at least 4.56 even 4.88 if you plan on going back to bigger tires
