nicolas-eric the first day with my new TJ with 32s and stock suspension. i only had stock jeeps before
http://video.google.de/videoplay?doc...0936179311994&

it was really a shock to me that the handling with 4" bigger tires is that dfferent.
now with more experience with this TJ and the 2" BB and 2" BL i can bring it on two wheels very easy in fast curves.

bluvikng That would be interesting, just be sure to take a video of it, and show us..........
08-04-2007 04:30 PM
nicolas-eric a drifting contest with a lifted TJ. i´d like to know after how many seconds it would flip over...
08-04-2007 04:24 PM
bluvikng I don't know about that, you might get some skreatching, from your transmission, if you do that..............
08-04-2007 04:19 PM
nicolas-eric really? i´m looking forward to it...

with my 32s and 4.56 gears it will be faster than stock with 28s and 3.07 gears.

my TJ will gonna be a race car then...perhaps i should go to some drifting contests with it when the 4.56 gears are installed...

bluvikng you will have low enough gears, for 35" tires. So you will have plenty of throttle responce. It will be comparing the turtle, to the hare.

nicolas-eric one more question.
how much better will be accellerating after changing gears from 3.07 to 4.56 with 32" tires?

i think that my tires could wear out very fast because of the spinning wheels if i don´t take care enough...
08-02-2007 08:30 PM
nicolas-eric ok.
you say the electrac is complex and hard to understand.
but if i know somebody who works for +20 years with axles and lockers ( http://killeraxles.com ) and who will install me the electrac, would it be ok then?
i think that it should work well when it´s installed correctly.

40 tooth speedo gear. thanks!
i saw a long and a shorter speedo gear in the online shops. which one do i need for a NP231 TC?

could somebody please post a link to the carrier i need for my D30 and the 4.56 gears?
i want to tell my dealer exactly what i want/need.

Jerry Bransford I thought I explained why.

if the 100% doesn´t work i still have a truetrac. that´s still better than the trac lock i have now.
and it´s for only 200$...

Jerry Bransford I wouldn't touch an Electrac. While the Electrac's Truetrac LSD works fine, its vulnerable and overly complex locker mechanism leaves a lot to be desired. And a 40 tooth speedometer gear is what you want for 4.56 and 32" tires.

nicolas-eric i want a locker that works on the road and off the road.
i love the trac lock i have now on the road. driving and accellerating is much better than with my old TJ without a trac lock.
tha electrac is a truetrac with an additional 100% feature. and some friends of me have it for 2-3 years without problems.
perhaps some other lockers are better, but for me (i only do some moderate offroading and teh TJ is my daily driver) it will be ok.
i´ve heard aboud many troubles with the auburn ected, that´s why i wat an electrac.

at this moment i don´t have the money for a 1000$ OX or ARB locker. perhaps i will change it in some years. but i think a cheap used electrac is better than no locker.

one more question.
which speedo gears adapter do i need with 4.56 and 32" tires?

Yup, then you will need a new carrier for the 30.

I have to be honest with you. I have never heard of a person having good luck or even keeping an Electrac for more than a year. That's probably why you got a 900 dollar locker for 200 bucks.

Hackle had one in his D60 ahwile back. He liked it so much he has an OX now. You might PM him and ask about some of the troubles he had with it.

nicolas-eric i have the EU model. they all have 3.07.
08-02-2007 06:38 PM
1BLKJP What is your ratio right now? The breakover for the D30 is 3.54 so if you have 3.73 now then you won't need a new carrier for re-gearing the front.

Locker / Gears Question

hello,

my dealer in colorado springs gave me a coll this morning that he bought a used detroit electrac (less than 8k miles) for me for only 200$. it´s for 3.73up gears.
now i want to order a 4.56 kit for my TJ: click me

i know that the electrac "is" the carrier. but i think i need a new carrier for the front axle. could you please take a look on the www.4wd.com website and tell me which carrier i need for my front D30? i couldn't find it there.

do i need something else?

thanks in advance for your reply.
nicolas-eric
