Cmbnum1 Yeah good luck I'm getting ready to start swapping my 4.2 out for a 350. Still trying to find a good trans and tc

BPJOOP93 What tranny? personally i would try a v8 swap before the 4.3 but its not my project. what axles?

Michaellkemp I'm still wheelin it at the moment with my locked stock axles and 4cyl. Gathering all my parts and hardware before I start the build. I don't want to tear it down just yet, that way I won't be out of commission for too long! I will take detailed pics though.

Michaellkemp The 4.3 will be a HUGE improvement! My 2.5 is struggling in every category. The main reason im going with this motor is because of the sweet deal I got on it!

99jeeper ya i agree with mr.sinister, stright 6's are purty much industructable!thats why almost big rigs are I6's. little to no cyl.wall oblonging.just a good engine.

Mr. Sinister Sounds like a lot of work for not much of an improvement (if any) in power, mileage, reliability, etc.
The 4.3 is a good engine, but I'd rather have the 4.0 personally.
That said, the 4.3 is basically just a 350 missing 2 cylinders. There are performance parts out there for them. For the time and hassle, why not just do a 350?

Michaellkemp Anyone with any input??

Im about to start a build on my 97 TJ. Going with a 2001 4.3 vortec and 1 ton axles. Any helpful tips would be appreciated.
