183Beast Update, Got this thing finished for the most part. Need to re-gear the front and put my locker in while im at it, but its drive able.

Finished putting the DANA 30 back in after welding my perches on.

The only thing that I had to do after that was get my Slip Yoke Eliminator put in which wasn't bad for disassembling a transfer case. I used a double cardan drive shaft out of a cherokee and had it shortened. I didn't take any pictures of it though.

The jeep rides good. I took it out and left it in two wheel drive and it did awesome with the LS rear. Can't wait to get the front geared with a lunch box locker in the front! Then i can hit up some hard trails.

183Beast I really want to go to Tuttle creek at the end of April. I need to get my gears ordered for up front before I would though. My front is still the 3.07, but I figured that this would give me a good reason to throw a locker up front at the same time.

cavediverjc Looks like you've got a great foundation for your build. It's nice to still see solid YJs out there. We're kicking around the idea of doing a wheeling trip the end of April to Tuttle Creek ORV Park over by Randolph, KS if you're interested. It's a good ways from GB, but it'll be worth it. RBatman has a thread posted with the details here on the Kansas forum.

183Beast Update for the people that like pictures.


I decided to do a SOA instead of a kit. It cost a lot to do it correctly, but money is made to spend, so screw it.

This is what I started with.

I got my 8.8 geared in 4.10. I have to wait until I get my slip yoke eliminator installed so I can set my pinion angle correctly before I weld the perches on, but its all mocked up for the most part.

yanked out the dana 30 and started to cut off the front perches, but they are a PITA so I ordered some new ones and stopped for the day.

After I finish this I am going to start working on bumpers, recovery gear, and herculiner the inside of the tub.

Overall, I would have done it again so far. I just need to get it finished.

New Guy here

I picked this up! I've never owned a jeep before. It appears to be in great shape. No rust on the frame or floor boards. 92,000 miles. I plan on doing a SOA lift and some 33" tires. Nothing to crazy because It will be on the street more than the dirt. I actually live and work in Great Bend, but I am in Wichita quite often (I'm from Wichita) If anyone ever goes to ride trails let me know.

I picked up a 8.8 geared in 4.10 along with a cherokee front shaft to shorten when my SYE comes in. My biggest set back is waiting for a little more money, so I can finish ordering parts.

I just thought I would introduce myself! look forward to meeting you guys/gals sometime.
