Nailhead432 If no fuel is coming down the pipe, and the fuel pump is pumping, then it's time to drop the tank again and bench test the pump module.

towerace81 That had not even come to my mind, Thanks Nailhead432. Now is there a way I can check that?

Nailhead432 If u got no pressure coming out of the pump from the tank, then it's recirculating in the tank meaning ur fuel pressure regulator isn't holding any pressure.

Fuel Probs got me stumped

The wife was driving the 99 sport home from work on Thursday, and I got the dreaded phone call. She tells me that the jeep is slowing down and it is hard to steer so she was going to go ahead and pull over to the side of the road and wait for me to get there and hook up the tow bar to my truck to bring her home. So I arrive and start to asses the situation. Belt is where it should be, just under 1/4 of a tank of gas, all electrical is good. I hit the key and the starter sounds good, but no fire at all. so I tow it home. I hooked up my fuel pressure guage and have 0psi when cranking. I finished out the evening checking every fuse/relay and connection and found no problems. The next morning I went for the one man tank drain and drop. Get the pump out and gator clip it to the battery for a brief second, and no spin. Gave it a little tap with a plastic mallot and still no spin. I reversed the clips and the pump sprang to life, ejecting what fuel it still had out the inlet side. Switched the clips back the right way and the pump spooled right up. I put everything back together with a new strainer, filled the tank with the 1/4 that I drained. Hit the key and the motor turned over nicely, but no start. No pressure at the rail, but I can hear the pump kick on when I hit the key. PLEASE HELP, where do I go from here?
