xsdbs Hello, There currently are no updates for the 2013 Uconnect system.

1) If you press and release the uconnect phone button and say "phonebook, list names", you'll be asked a name to start from. Say "all".
Does Uconnect list all the names in your phonebook? It will not read a name if there is only an email address linked to it. It has to have a phone number as that is the only contact information that is stored.
2) What network are you on? I have used the G3 from Sprint with no issues with the PB.
3) The voice training should only be done once. If it has been done more that that, please do a full reset of Uconnect by pressing and releasing the Uconnect button and say "reset", you'll be told that all paired phones will be deleted. Then delete Uconnect from the phone, do a fresh pairing session.
4) PB download really isn't a real issue with Uconnect and most phones. Usually it's an error somewhere else.

I have also run through the voice recognition setup multiple times and it doesn't help. I know the system understands me, all other voice command functions work great, just doesnt understand. I see many postings with this issue, but none since last year. My display shows my phone is connected via BT, and if I say "call" and the phone number, it will dial correctly, just not names. My first thought was maybe I needed an update, but don't see any for something so new.

xsdbs Hello,
I remember last year when I help a lot of people with the 2011 Uconnect SW updates and also there were several people not too happy with the streaming audio quality. I have started a new thread where I am trying to see how many people that I can get listed that are still unhappy.
The thread is:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f40/201...ty-170215.html

If you don't mind going to that thread and listing your information, I would appreciate it. I am working on trying to get something done aboiut it. Thaks in advance to anyone willing to help out.

dralwaysright Big thanks to Xsdbs and mrJeepR44. The update worked for my 2011 Durango 430/RBZ and Samsung Galaxy SII. Streaming audio via bluetooth now works. This is the only forum where I found the problem addressed and solved. If it hasn't been stated before, the file on the thumbdrive must be named uconect.upd. uconnect2.upd won't work, for example. If you go through the Dodge/Chrysler support (online) they deny that there is an update applicable to my system. But thanks to this forum, problem solved.

jmar31 Hi xsdbs,

I've tried all these steps, to no avail. Streaming audio works, but the quality is quite low, and I wouldn't be able to listen to my music very loud.

My old iPod Nano does work most of the time, until I have to randomly reset it to get it working again.

If only I could just plug in my iPhone to the USB, I'd be in heaven

xsdbs jmar31,
I really don't think this is a faulty system, there is another person having a similar issue on another forum. Also mine has been working since Monday with no issues.
Can you try a reset on the Uconnect system. This will wipe the system clean and delete the pairing of the phone. (I will ask you to also delete the pairing of UC on the phone as well).
Press the UC button on the radio and say "reset" you will now be asked if you DO want to reset the system and that everything will be erased.. say "yes".
After the reset is done cycle the ign off, open & close the drivers door, then wait about a minute just to make sure that the modules are asleep. Now turn the key on and start a new pairing session of the phone. Let me know how this works out for you.

But just last night, my iPod stopped working as well. So maybe it's a faulty system or something.

xsdbs jmar31,
I updated my IPhone 4S today to the 5.1, I have about 1800 songs on the I tunes. I was able to plug into the docking cable, UC read it and started play. I turned the key off & on a few different times trying to see if that would cause any issues. It played fine on my 45 minute ride home tonight. I would ask you to try a reboot of the phone. Hold down the power and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds, till the Apple appears, then let go. The phone will now reboot. (I have been having to reboot my phone a couple times a month for different things). then try it again. If this doesn't work, I would try a re syncing with iTunes. One of these two should get you going again.

The Bluetooth audio works fine. If I lock, unlock, it doesn't speed up.

Maybe I just have to wait?

xsdbs correct. If the streaming audio becomes choppy when the screen powers up, then the update didn't take. Can you try it again and please listen to the beeps all the way thru just in case there is an error message.

So I make sure my phone is asleep, turn on the radio, start playing the BT streaming audio, then wake my iPhone? I'll give this a try now.

Go into the streaming audio mode, it sounds ok (correct), now press the wake button so that you can see the "now playing" screen. Did the audio get choppy and fast? If this is correct, then reformat the thumb drive and download it from a different USB hub on the computer, then reapply it to the vehicle.

Then it says "Track 5 of 6620". So it knows how many songs my iPhone has, but won't let me play them.

The bluetooth audio does seem to be working now! Although the quality isn't the highest. That's at least a nice addition.

Do you know if there is anything else I could do?

xsdbs Hello Jon,
The issue here is not the radio. The problem is that when the SW for the 2011 vehicles was written Apple products had a SW versions 3.xx and they were tested with that SW. In August of 2010, Apple came out with their 4.0 SW, they made some changes that they didn't validate with the car kit companies (Chrysler, Ford, GM etc). The 4.0 SW caused issues like you see, Well Apple being the wonderful company that they are said "yep there's a problem, but we're not doing anything about it". Wonderful, so the car kit companies had to pay to make an update to correct the Apple issues.
Anyway Chrysler has a Uconnect update and the TSB # is 08-036-11 rev A. This will fix the issue that you are having. If you prefer to perform the update you can by downloading my file that I have on Mediafiire.uconnect.upd

and here are the instructions for it:

Download it to a thumb drive that has no other files on it. If you have files on it, please delete them and format the drive (to FAT32) just to make sure that it is completely clean.
Turn the radio on, Place the thumb drive in the center console USB connector (on vehicles with the dealer installed unit, it should be in the glove box), press and hold the Uconnect button for about 12 - 15 seconds, you should here "update started". This process should take about 15 - 20 minutes, there will be some beeps during the process. Please listen during the update for any error message that may be said by Uconnect. When the update is completed, the radio screen will go back to a radio display. Now plug in your iPhone or iPod and let it be read by Uconnect, does it start playing after being read? Let me know how this works out for you.

Is there another update to the 23.04.41 that I haven't found?

Should I try to re-install the update?

xsdbs Really,
So a doctor never asked where does it hurt? Does it hurt when you do this or that. Does it hurt if I press here?
A dentist just always knows where to drill without looking or taking an x-ray.
A mechanic seems to automatically know where that "intermittent" short is coming from and whats causing it without asking anything about it or conditions like "does it seem to happen when it's wet out" or "does it happen when you hit a bump.
The questions were asked to try and come to a conclusion of what is causing the issue. Now we all know that The all mighty car salesman was able to ask if you looked to see if YOUR phone was compatible or not. No one else thought to ask such a mundane question.
When I mentioned that I would have thought you had looked at that already, your response was; "Have to know about it to check it".

When you pair a phone up, Uconnect tells you to "Refer to vehicle website for a list of supported BT devices" as well as the information being in your owners manual.

Questions have been asked to most of the members here about any issues they were having with their phones as well as some being asked to try various (and sometimes many) steps that LED to a conclusion and helping them.
Those questions have helped over 200 people with issues they were having with Uconnect. NO, this does not make me an expert and I never claimed to be an expert, only that I am willing to try to help others who are having no luck anywhere else. I have also mentioned several times that I have little experience with the Harman radios but I was willing to try and help you. Yet you whine over the asking of questions in order to help.

xsdbs OK, so here we go with the questions.
1) On the radio, in the lower right corner of the face plate there should be a 3 digit model (Such as RER, RHB etc).
2) Which Droid do you have?
3) What is the SW (Android) version of the phone.

I did an update last spring when I was having trouble with my iPhone 4 that I was using for work. That worked great but I've since moved on to another position and I'm using a Droid phone now.

The problem I'm having is that the phone only connects via BT to Ucon some of the time. It will connect and then drop out -at least no indicator symbol onscreen, and it won't make a call but I haven't tried to call every time the problem persists. Sometimes no connection at all. Usually if I reboot the phone it will work.

Any ideas? Is there another update available? I tried reading through everything here but so far haven't come across it. (I'm tired and going to bed so I skipped from page 14 to 'Last' on this thread... )

Kind Regards

The Evo 4G had issues early on with android SW version 3.2. The problem then was the way that HTC was sending the phone book information. If you selected "always & Accept" when the permission to download the pb came up from Uconnect then there would be disconnects. Actually because HTC was sending the info in an unsupported way, Uconnect was resetting and trying to get the info correctly, after a few unsuccessful attempts, Uconnect would stop trying and then finish the connection, this was usually about 3-5 minutes after the key was turned on.
I let HTC know about this issue and sent traces of it. They then came up with 2.3.4 which I tested and validated for them and it was released to the customers, I think it was around June 2011.
