|98tj25l||I probably could have tried to put the needle bearings back in place. It's just that they fell onto the floor into some metal shavings. After that I would rather buy another part, and not risk something happening.|

|fire239||Good job....is there a reason you couldn't have just put the bearings back in the cap that you dropped? I was just wondering that when i read your other post.|

|98tj25l||Finished: Well, I was able to get a new U-Joint this morning from 4 Wheel Parts in Cleveland. They were a great help, and very nice. I decided this time I wouldn't risk ruining another U-Joint. So I took my axle shaft with me, and asked them to install the joint for me. Their shop was running behind schedule, but they were able to squeeze it in for me. Putting everything back together went pretty smooth. I just got back from my test drive and everything seems to be nice and tight, with no more feedback.|

Update: I jacked up my front end, and spun the tires as they were being turned left to right. The passenger side was fine, and spun smoothly. The drivers side would bind up as soon as you started turning it either direction. So then I got to work tearing into it, and eventually got the axle shaft out. Once out I immediately noticed that the U-Joint only worked one direction. It would move freely left to right, but it wouldn't budge up or down. As I removed the U-Joint the first three caps had all their needle bearings in place and looked fine.....The last cap however had some that were broken, stuck, and falling out (pic below)
Once I got the old joint out I started to install the replacement Spicer 5-760X. Then one of the new caps fell and dumped it's bearings So now I'm stuck until tomorrow when I can pick up another. I would just like to thank everyone for their input, you guys rock!!!

|fire239||It is one of your axle U-Joints. I've had to replace both of mine, exact symptoms you've got. Jack up the front end and have someone turn your steering both ways to full lock while you look at each U-Joint. You'll probably see the bad one. The caps will shift around and it will just look a little sloppy when it moves. Hard to describe, easy to spot when you see it. Replace it now, before it breaks and leaves you stranded. The joints are cheap and it will take a couple of hours, there are write ups for the repair if you google. Rent the U-Joint tool at Autozone or your parts store of choice. Oh, you will need a 36mm socket to remove the axle nut.|

Mine does that a little and I'm lifted on 35's, think its just a little bump steer. I don't worry to much about it due to it being very minor. More then likely its just the bushings starting to wear down on the tie rod and bottom side of the pitman arm. Think theres 4 total 2 on the tie rod (tire to tire) and 2 on the drag link (going up to the pitman arm or steering box). Would have to look again but I beleave a couple are not replaceable ends.
However to compleaty replace eveything is around 250 so its really not that bad. And yes it can be done individualy as well, but the passenger side should be a solid end so this part you have to do the whole bar. About 80 bucks.
If its real minor just grease it and keep a eye on it. if it. starts to get sloppy then it will be time to replace.

|98tj25l||Thanks I'll try to take a look tonight. I thought of a better way to describe what I feel when making low speed turns. It feels similar to the computer steering wheels that have the road force feedback. I feel this going into, and coming out of a turn. I'll also add that this is a stock setup.|

Also jack up the whole front end and have someone turn the wheel slowly lock to lock with you watching it from the front.
Look to see if the tire is hitting any where. Don't be surprised if the tire rubs a little on the lower control arm at full lock. My did with stock tires and wheels, the jeep just turns to tight for its own good lol

Probably just bushings wearing out or a tire a little lower then
the other. Take a look over all your steering components and grease as needed. If it very light just keep an eye on it. But be sure to look over everything and replace what needs replaced.
Slight vibrations when steering I wouldn't worry about to bad.
Jeep steering is very touchy and you will notice xtra in the wheel that you may not notice with other rigs. Could be as simple as just feeling what the tire is doing on the road as you are turning.
Just take look at all steering stuff, check bushings and feel for looseness. Jack up one side at a time feel for excess play in the ball joint or hub, watch your tie rod ends as you do this and watch for moment that shouldn't be there. A little vibration may or may not be anything to worry about.

A couple days ago I noticed that my steering was starting to feel funny. It doesn't take any more effort to turn. It's just during low speed turns I get some feedback in the steering wheel. It almost feels like the tire is shifting. There might be a little bit of drifting on straight roads, but that could just be the wind or my imagination. I haven't heard any new or weird sounds. Could it be a wheel bearing, U-Joint, Track Bar, any ideas? I'm still learning about this whole garage mechanic thing, so any input is appreciated!
