Rwilliamjacob Oh that was you read that before. I've seen the last update on dnr's website but I still feel like the enviromentalnazis are going put it in their heads that we dont need orv trails which is why I called bs previously. But like you said we all need to get together and show them we want to step up and make it happen and somehow show them it would be worth it and that a few dumb red necks aren't goin to go and trench out everything and leave trash evrywhere. Trails rd out here in brouge and delta a few of the guys put trash cans out and go down and clean up every few oftens if people could do something like that im sure we could get some pull

Hubdeep Not true. We have been meeting with the Department of Natural Resources since last Fall.

There are a few areas that Maryland is looking into purchasing for OHV use.

Rwilliamjacob They closed it for good. Many good times there with our islander back in the day camping. they claim that they will work with the community to develop better suited trails in the future but thats a load of shit.

RedJK From the Green Ridge State Forest web site:

Quote:
Off-Road Vehicles Currently the Poplar Lick Savage River State Forest in Garrett County and Chandler Trails in the Pocomoke State Forest, in Worcester County will remain closed. To accommodate existing reservations previously secured by riders and campers, the Green Ridge State Forest trail will open April 1 and remain open through April 23; the trail will then close on April 24,and remain closed pending the results of the upcoming forest certification audit.

Hubdeep Latest update from DNR:

"Interested ORV stakeholders: As indicated at the ORV stakeholders meeting held on 3/23/11, the Department of Natural Resources will hold a meeting at Green Ridge State Forest to receive your ideas on possible realignments of the existing ORV trail to avoid impacts to sensitive resources. The meeting will be held on 4/7 and we will meet at the Green Ridge headquarters at 9:30 AM for some initial discussions followed by a field review. Please let me know if you plan to attend and whether you will be representing a club or organization. We need a head count so that we can plan accordingly. You should also visit our new website at:
Resources for Trail Managers & Planners - The Maryland Trail System - Land Acquisition and Planning - Maryland Department of Natural Resources Please let me know if you are able to attend and hope to see you at Green Ridge SF on Thursday (4/7). Thank you for your continued interest in Maryland’s ORV Trails.

Save Maryland trails!

HELP OPEN MD TRAILS

Write a letter on pirate4x4.com to help save Maryland Trails, dont rely on the other guy to do it. Take a stand against more park closures in our state. It is getting support from people from out of state that know nothing about Maryland, about us, and the lengths we have to go to participate in our sport.

Please take the time to show your support.

Pirate4x4.com Land Use - Letter Generator

Pirate makes it super easy to send a short letter in support of opening Maryland trails. They also can track how many letters have been sent and have copies of the letters. If its too much of an inconvinence for you to write something yourself, please copy and paste my letter below.

Thanks!

"Please help to develop more OHV trails in Maryland.

Thousands of dollars of revenue continues to escape Maryland due to the severe lack of OHV trails. Pennsylvania has several publicly owned and operated four wheel drive trails that draw thousands of dollars to the state annually. With that influx of tourism, monies are being spent in local restaurants, hotels and stores.

The state of Maryland has many, many offroad clubs who spend thousands of volunteer hours in out-of-state parks cleaning, repairing, and continually maintaining their trail systems. Under the guidance of these Maryland offroad clubs, we could bring active and revenue generating tourism to our state.

Help the Maryland offroad community grow and thrive. Support the development of off highway vehicle trails in our state."
