They are alot flimsier. But alot thicker. They seems like they would bend alot more before cracking when squeezing past a tree or something compared to stock. Never ran bushwacker.

InfernoGirl If you use a tool like a dremel or similar you will be showered with molten plastic bombs and have a nasty looking edge to clean up. (How do I know this?) If you want to make it easy on yourself just get a razor knife with some new blades, mark where you want to trim them, score em, bend the plastic in to the wheel well along the score line and peel em off. You may have some smoothing to do along the inner flare, but it's easy to trim with the knife or sand off...

KidRock171 Awesome guys. Quick responses. General idea is I DID get my hands on the xenon 6" flat flares. (painting them today) and they have this lip on the bottom outside edge. Want to cut it up to make it just that much flatter.

jcf I have looked into doing it as well & have found out that most people tape the line they want to cut with blue masking tape, score with a craft knife or utility knife,cut with a dremmel or similar tool, then sand the edge with fine grit. Some put the sticky door trim around for a finished look but some leave it as is. Paint the inside of the guard black & it's done.

Cutting them looks fine if you take your time...its pretty popular actually. I did it on my rear flares.

I dont have many good pics from the rear...but here are a couple that you can kind of see it in.

danieldlg_13 I just saw you have a TJ. I don't know if it will look as clean as it does on the JK's. Look into the flat fender flares that are sold and cover up some of the hardware and under side of the flare.

danieldlg_13 Most of it is just getting a Dremmel and cutting them. Nothing really special. I'm assuming you have a JK?

Trimmed flares

I see alot of guys running trimmed flares out there. Can anyone give me some info on how it's done? Or a link to another write up.
