got this from- Exhaust Header Design Comments
The formula to calculate pipe size is:
Area of Primary Pipe = RPM × Cylinder Size ÷ 88,200
This determines the pipe's cross-sectional area, from which we can calculate the ID. Typical exhaust pipes are 18ga. (wall thickness of .049”), so the OD will be .098” larger. From this we can construct a formula for an 8 cylinder motor, and factor in the 18ga. wall thickness:
Area of Primary Pipe = RPM × Motor Size ÷ 705,600
Pipe ID2 = RPM × Motor Size ÷ 705,600 ÷ .7854
Pipe ID2 = RPM × Motor Size ÷ 554,177
ID = (RPM × Motor Size ÷ 554,177).5
OD = (RPM × Motor Size ÷ 554,177).5 + .098”

|GrandpaStyx||I could be wrong but I think the wider the exhaust pipe is the deeper the sound will be and I think that even just changing the size and shape of the tail pipe will have an effect on the sound produced.|

|scgeek12||uploading a video of my exhaust i took right after i had a local muffler shop weld up most of the cracks in my header, still has a few cracks, (you can here the leak at the end pretty well), its all stock except a flowmaster 40, i love the way it idles, not to loud but nice and low, i do eventually want to bring it in and get tip replaced as you can see its a big ugly from being old :P|

|Steve Loves Jeeps||I saw a JK in the city the other day with the dual exhaust and it looked awful. Didn't help that is was a pure mall crawler, but I feel the dual exhaust isn't meant for a Jeep.|

I like my jeep quiet, so stock is best for me. I am not a fan of loud vehicles unless they are muscle cars like my 67 Mustang or turbo diesels.
Not that you care lol. Anyways... My old jeep had a banks setup and it wasnt too bad.

Nobody that I know of makes a "dual exhaust" system for a TJ. If you want a dual look, it's going to be custom--bring money.
I wanted my 4.0L TJ to make some more noise, so I had the stock muffler cut out. In its place, I grafted in a Magnaflow muffler. It does now make more noise, and it's a deep, mellow tone that sounds nice and authoritative... but I'm disappointed because it is still too quiet for my tastes. Oh, well.

Hey all, im getting a new exhaust system for my 02 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport, i want a dual exhaust if possible, and i really want a low tone, i had a glass pack on before and its sounds more like a rice burner than anything. So if you could give me some links, or names of systems to get i would greatly appreciate it also, my price range is about $350 or less if possible.
