1995yj318 The solenoid should have four terminals 2 big terminals labeled (B) and (A) and 2 small terminals labeled (I) and (S). Battery power goes to terminal (A) main starter wire goes to (B). You should have a small 16 or 18 gauge wire running to terminal (S) this wire should run to a wire that is only hot when the key is in the start position. Check to make sure when you turn the key to start you have power to the (S) terminal. If you do then make then make sure the trans is in neutral then jump terminal (A) and (B) with a screw driver. If it cranks then try changing the solenoid. I hope this helps.

sevenservices so then the wire you have hooked to the light switch should be re-routed to the ignition. that way when you turn the key to start it tries to start the engine.

Your on the right track, its just going to take some time to pinpoint each and every connection on its own. unfortunately you said its not a stock setup, therefore no one has a diagram to help. At that point, its trial and error.

Try something, LABEL THE WIRE!
Try something else, LABEL THAT WIRE!
And so on until you have something to go off from.

sevenservices what type of problem are you having? No start? Misfires? Firing order? Tell us as much as you can about what you are trying to do and how the jeep is responding.
