mace Neither have my JK CRD 2008. My dealer printed out all stuff according the VIN.

Bazzer I can confirm that my 2008 Wrangler does not have a DPF fitted and therefore takes 0W-40 Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel oil.

I phoned a dealer with my VIN number for confirmation.

IRCKevin If the more recent Jeep service books are anything like the Audi and Seat ones, they have a page at the beginning of the book with the VIN number and a list of code numbers below it. These give the build codes and if a DPF is fitted, then a dealer should be able to tell you from these.
Alternatively, if you have the receipts from previous dealer services, these may detail the type of oil used and you could tell from that?

Hi,

We know what it stands for, what we want to know is how do you know if your Jeep is fitted with one as this dictates the grade of oil to use.

Bazzer How ironic, I just Googled 'Jeep Wrangler DPF' and this post came up as the first search result.

Anyhow, did you ever get an answer to your question I have the very same question?

I recently bought a 2008 JK with a 2.8 CRD engine and would like to buy a top up bottle of oil.

Wrangler JK 2.8 crd DPF ?

Hi,

I originally posted this in the main JK forum and was advised to try posting it in the European members forum - so here goes !

The manual for my UK spec Wrangler JK 2.8CRD 4 door says that you use one sort of oil (MS-11106) if it has a DPF and a different sort (MS- 10725) if it doesnt. Is there a simple way of telling if it has DPF or do I need to crawl underneath and look for pipes sticking out of the cat? (You probably realize from this that I'm not a mechanic !)

Also, my manual talks about using oil of viscosity 5W-30 - but most of the stuff in the JK forum talks about 5W -20. Is this for difference in US/UK use?

Anybody got any advice?

Johnny
