billytheyj If you go with that specific guy I put up he has adapter plates with the kits.

matchbox145 Hey thanks i checked out the mc and i think thats the way im going to go,, but does it have adapter plates like the weber or direct mount.

billytheyj If you decide motorcraft this is where I bought mine from he jets and sets it up for you and it has everything needed! You give him elevation and whatever else you want.

If you go with fuel injection then I reccomend the the mopar multi port injection instead of the howell injection which is throtle body and is the same as the 4.0 yjs injection systems. No offense to the 4.0 guys but the multiport is a better system and more advanced! The major downfall is the mopar kit is more than twice the price anyways good luck!

matchbox145 Thanks for your help, Today i checked choke and it's good, filter good and fuel pressure also right I think maybe i will just check out the 2150 or get the tbi, I bought the weber because heard it was good and at the time i was in about 3000 with new motor and i replaced every part under hood so at the time just trying to save some $$$$ and weber was 300,,My buddies i go wheelin with tell me just leave it be they think it runs great!!! and who cares about the smell Thanks Again

billytheyj Alright let's get to the nitty gritty here.
Well have you checked your floats for any damage that might be causing a sunk float. A good indicator of a sunk float from damage is you can close your mixture screws and it will still run good and still run rich. Also check the position of the floats (that's the link I can't find, where its a step by step how to).

Is your choke working properly all the way open when running wide open etc. I have a hell of a time with my webers choke hince my manual choke that came with my MC2150 kit.

(Dumb question) is your air filter clean, also what about your fuel pressure? Have you checked how much pressure is coming in I have heard of others fixing there running rich problems with a fuel regulator. Sometimes the mechanical fuel pump can push more fuel than needed!

I am the wrong one to talk to about it... I have been on the phone with weber many many times and ill get it to run great but it just sucks down the gas and won't ever stop running rich. So that's why I got the mc 2150 I thought about saving up for the mopar fuel injection but decided there are a lot of other places I would rather spend 2gs.

matchbox145 Get a new carb lol,, Just what i thought wish i never bought this one,, should have got the 2100 or spent the 1200 on tbi when i put the new motor in. and yes i have turned the air mix screw so many times that the screw has more miles on it then the jeep,, it just dont make any sence starts right up , super smooth idle at 800 rpm and has lots of power going down the road, I have checked the plugs at least ten times and are never black. I turned the mix screw out three turns yesterday and you can stand behind it and no smell but when you drive it thats all you smell,, And weber is no help when you call.

billytheyj Ok don't let me scare u away from it there are plenty of people that use them and love them. I just have spent more hours tuning it constantly then doing other things on my jeep.

billytheyj Get a different carb! I have a 38dgas weber and it just runs rich always so my last resort fix is now I have a motorcraft 2150 waiting to go in. Have u tried messing with your mixture screws? Here is a link to help tune http://www.carburetion.com/weber/adjust.htm

Also there is a trick to help cut down on the amount of fuel going in but it requires modification to the carb... I don't have the link or can even remember where I read it but ill look.

Hi, I have a 1989 yj with a new create motor 4.2 just 2700 miles and have the hei and the weber 34 carb, Timing set at 8 deg at curb idle,, but it is always rich no matter what i do. Jeep runs great,idles great runs real smooth. But it will burn your eyes and choke you and it does not smoke, Oh and the plugs are not black they have the tan color if anyone has any ideas that would be great.
