splashy Thanks for the tips. I will definitely look into PartsTrain if I do end up needing a new switch. So far the blinkers have been working since we fussed with it so fingers crossed!

chop110 Check out Parts Train. They have that part for $50. - Hard to Find Auto Parts and Truck Parts -

Those turn signal switches just get old and eventually they have to be replaced. I got mine from Parts Train as well for my 99 an it worked just fine.

fonecop1 My Jeep had been parked and I think that is why the guy parked it, the blinkers and the brake lights were acting up. My Son took it to work and when he asked one of his buddies about what it could be the guy grabbed the blinker switch and banged it back and forth between left and right turn several times pretty violently. It has been about 10 months and it has been working ever since.

splashy Okay, went to the dealership service department and they said "jeeps don't have flashers blah blah get a turn signal switch" then they priced said switch at over $200!

Went home, and my dad helped me take apart the steering column and we found the flasher! We also cleaned the turn signal switch. I think we've got it working now but if not, I'll be ordering one from auto zone.

New to me 01 TJ - turn signal issues

Hey first post!

I recently bought my first jeep, a 2001 TJ with 105k miles, it's got the 2.5L engine but I couldn't pass up the price.

When I first got it in January the turn signals worked intermittently, the previous owner thought it was because it had sat for a while. I was going to get a new flasher but the guy at autozone said he couldn't even order one for my Jeep and said it needed a turn signal switch. Being an $80 part I decided to wait.

I was going to order one, but they started working again and have been working for the past few months until yesterday. They blink and then just stop, sometimes they blink for a while, sometimes for only a second. I'm sick of not having working blinkers. Does this sound like a turn signal switch issue?

Thanks in advance.
