Agreed. Encouraging people to hit illegal wheeling spots is a great way to get banned from the forum. That being said, it's your first post, so welcome . Hopefully the mods will show pitty and allow you to stay.

Its also a pain to get in but its a great place, especially for the people new to the sport.
I also know of a place off of 684, in Brewster. This too is a place were you can get away with wheeling with a mall group. I used to ride dirtbikes and atvs there, and every so often you may get asked to leave, but its worth it.
I personally do not a license, but those are two spots i do know of.
Both illegal but they are all used.

Irongrave Only trails in the Salem area that you can drive on are private property and need an invite. Any others up here are not legal trails to drive a jeep on

spinmove29 Well if you hear or think of any place (even something basic/easy) in the area... just hoping not to drive down to the barrens for a first run.

Hey All,

New to the site, getting a new '12 this week. Definitely looking for a place within an hour or so of Westchester County to ride- nothing crazy but something offroad (legal or not). It's been very difficult researching this on the internet, despite the vast # of offroaders out there. If you hear anything, please shoot me a message. Would love to get out there and dirty up some brand new wheels.

I'd have to disagree, while I've only done one guided ride there so far, it was great.
A great way to get introduced to driving off road. Well worth it to me. I look forward to this next one.

I'd love to join a club, but it's hard for me to get a full day off on weekends which is when I assume most clubs go wheeling.....

I actually just did that last weekend, and it was defintely worth it!! I don't know how it can get much better than that.

dpalms I am in Bedford Hills in northern westchester. I know a few friends who ride on illegal areas (not official trails for public) around in northern westchester but I have not asked them where exactly yet. I think you just have to know the right people who know the right spots ;-)
