scgeek12 i recently bought my 99 sport, and i really regret not waiting and finding a rubicon for the axles ( i didnt know anything about jeeps then :P) and lockers

Jamzjeep I have the 01 sport.I voted for the Rubi. Go for it.

Abnmarine Thanks everyone. The 2001 model has the stock axles and gears. Owner said it needs to be re geared.

I'm having the Rubi inspected today. Hope everything checks out. I was leaning that way since it's stock other than the wheels. This let's me choose what I want. Plus it's a stronger platform.

SilverTJMike Take the rubicon. Doesn't say the axle on the other. I'd put an old man emu and a body lift add 33's. Be set to o jeepin. 1000 for lockers and 44's, 4:1 transfer case nice!

30-284 Hands down, the rubicon is the better deal all the way around what with less milage and all, you could never add all of the rubicon options to the sport for 1000 dollars.

Buying my Jeep. Questions

I've narrowed my search down to two models and would like your opinions on what would be the better choice. Future plans consists of a 2-3" lift and some 33's for mild trails.

First candidate is a 2001 Wrangler Sport, 6 cylinder, auto, 93k miles, red paint

Mods: 3 1/2" Rough Country lift, wheels, 33" tires, Gibson exhaust, aftermarket front and rear bumpers, Linex floor, 6" fender flares, rocker guards, aftermarket CD player

Cost: $10,500

Second candidate is a 2003 Wrangler Rubicon, 6 cylinder, auto, 80k miles, black paint

Cost: $11,500

I'm aware of the Rubicon having better axles, transfer case and rear disk brakes plus skid plates. I would still spray the floor and add a 2" lift. Which model is the better deal?

Mods: Wheels and 32" tires, aftermarket CD player
