camtron3712 hey go look at my other post about the scariest thing that happened to me in my jeep to find out while my whole jeep was shaking and almost flipped!

deathphoenix99 I wouldn't want to get the dash in standing water, there are too many open connections that are not water tight. I've removed my dash to do the heatercore, so I know for a fact they aren't sealed. Also, getting water in the electrical will cause a lot of issues and corrosion. I've seen plenty of cars that were flooded down here in Houston, and I don't mean salt water, just sudden floods, and after only a week, half of the electrical is rusted. And the cars were only in the water for probably a day at most.

haha, exactly. Last summer I was caught in a rain storm two hours away from my house and I didn't have a full top or doors on. By the time I got home the TJ had 2-3 inches of water in the floor boards. I pulled the carpets and drain plugs and let it all dry out the next day and everything has been fine since then. The only thing that (kind of) saved me that day was that I had a small bikini top on, so the dashboard didn't see much rain water.

Do a search on here for "clockspring" and you'll see what happens when you get your dash wet.

Martinez_Coins In my opinion the one thing you need to look out for is the clock spring in the dash. If it gets too wet your CEL will come on and the engine will have trouble running because of false reports on the TPS sensor. If the clock spring gets too wet you can also experience the horn randomly going off whenever it wants to, let me tell you it sucks waking up at 3 AM with your horn blaring for no reason...

The best thing I know of to keep the clock spring dry is the column cover from dirty mudder, I have one and anytime there is a chance of rain and the top is off I put it on as a little extra insurance, it works great!

TrailbossNJ True, any problems I ever had from water, such as dashlights going crazy blinking, staying on constantly, etc....they all went away when the dash had time to dry out. Water isn't exactly your friend inside your Jeep, but it's not a total enemy either. After my Jeep takes a bath inside for whatever reason, I let it dry out and then lube everything, such as the seat frames, stock jack and accessories under the passenger seat, etc. Use common sense and some good silicone spray and you should be fine.

dmcg I wouldn't say "waterproof," but highly water resistant. Here in Texas we get sudden, unexpected severe thunderstorms all the time. They come out of nowhere! There have been plenty of occassions where I wasn't around to put my top up. I have no carpets and keep the drain plugs out. The only issue I ever had with electronics has been with my after market radio getting wet and the buttons didn't work for a day

camtron3712 i know the fuse box is located under the glove box incase things like that happen.

old_blue what is this water proofing you speak of?

haha jk but i wish mine was. my soft top is old and beat the hell and definitley leaks and even my hard top lets a little water get in. nothin serious tho.

edit* also ive gone through water with the top down a few times and got water splashed all inside and never had a problem
