VVCG33 I have just heard that chrome is a B*&$# to get off the wheel in order for the paint to stick

TnDz TJ You can clean them really good... Then spray them black with Plasti Dip! Several guys do this on the VW Vortex forum

I did my bezels and the front chrome of my 07 Jetta. Love it!!!!

TX2dr Listen to her!!! Long story short, I got some used chrome rims for wife's jeep. She wants them flat black, took very good advice from here, they just forgot to mention the labor intensive time involved!!!! If your set on getting them painted, I suggest powder-coating. Just my opinion.

InfernoGirl Before attempting paint, go to Wally's and get some Turtle Wax chrome polish. Best $2 you'll spend on your Jeep. It's fast and easy to use, so you won't mind using it, and if you keep a good coat of wax on them you may not have too many problems.

Got these new wheels andd...

I got some really nice chrome Cragar Soft 8s off Craigslist for pretty cheap, so thats why I bought them. They look good for the summer, but I would like to continue using them in the winter. Only problem is that with these harsh Vermont winters, the salt will eat up the chrome.

I was thinking I would try painting them black and have read everywhere chrome is hard to scuff/paint, but it can indeed be done.

Any more input would be appreciated!!
