Maybe... if you roll it instead of trying to fold it. Mine is a heavy fabric, if you find a more "tarp like" material it should be fine

tat2dbaldguy I keep an Army poncho in my jeep if it looks like it is going to rain and i am at work or going to parked for a while, flip the back seat up and you can cover front and back seats enough to have a dry place to sit, other then that, ya only get wet when you stop.

if your dash gets wet and you start having problems, turn on the heater at full blast and close your vents, leave it running like that for maybe 5 min's or so, and then turn the jeep off. When you turn it back on, if you are still having problems repete... had a friend get his dash wet from a soaking rain and did this for about half an hour and it dryed out the back side of the dash.

PTWarrior66 I keep the top down all the time, stick it in the garage when it's raining

the only thing you would really have to worry about is if you have an aftermarket headunit, i pressure wash my interior, dash included atleast 1 time a week havent had a single problem yet

JEEPIN_DOG I check the extended forecast before the top comes down. It's got to be several clear days in a row or a great weekend for that. But I just look outside before work and if it's decent the doors come off and back window gets rolled up. Got the soft doors finally so they can go on and off without needing any help. We've got 7 good ones coming in a row so top comes down in the morning

Leave it in the sun, topless for a while... There's really nothing in them to stink, and they dry pretty quickly.

Bone People at work go outside to see if I have my top on or off so they'll know if it's going to rain or not. The hard top on the LJ is a big, heavy chunk of fiberglass and is NOT a one man job so I make sure I know the forecast before taking that thing off. Top and doors have been off for about two weeks now but I might be putting them back on this weekend. Dang farmers and their constant prayers for rain.

Then why does your avatar show your Jeep with its top on?

BLK00TJ We all become amatuer weathermen after getting a Jeep. People at work know to ask me for the 5-day forcast in the summer because I always seem to know when it will rain. Just last night I scared away a storm. My wife warned me that it was starting to get ugly outside so I went out to cover up as the first drops started to fall. Two minutes after putting the cover on the sun came out and dried up all the rain.

I always put a cover on overnight to keep the dew off of the interior and always store the cover in the back so that if a storm pops up, I can cover up while at work.

GoldenSahara00 watch the weather, until I finish weather proofing my jeep this summer then ill be good to go. Im very excited

Cp1205 next week sunny and 85, top and toors have been off since wednesday
05-27-2011 01:49 PM
zaitcev I don't care for weather because I only take the top off when I am out camping (I have a JK with hardtop). When I get back home I put carpet and rear bench in, and generally reconfigure the Jeep into a mall crawler for another 6 months. Rain is pretty annoying though, I'm thinking about getting a bikini top.

scgeek12 well ive got the top off for sure right now, still kind of worried about rain tho jk

05-23-2011 06:33 PM
calimbrium i definitely pay attention to the weather...

dunno if you've heard, but it rains a lot here in seattle.
if the forecast calls for even a chance of rain, the top stays up. if there are 2 or more sunny days forecasted, top is off. i do not enjoy being soaked and freezing while driving... bleh.

Since you didn't melt, I guess you can have it back.....

Joplies Ive driven a lil in the rain, nothing major yet. Hardtops arnt exactly the easiest thing to take off alone so i tend to wait for a few days of decent weather to take her off. If i had a soft top id be all over having it down constantly rain or shine. Cant argue with the feeling of ridding in the wind in a Jeep!

95YamJam I watch it. I don't want the baby seat wet. It gets frustrating though so the 55gal trashbag suggestion sound like a new plan.

charles3108 It's raining almost every day in Quebec this spring and some people are asking if I'm aware it's rAining , and if I'm aware there's no roof on my Jeep, or did I get my doors stolen , Or telling me I'll get arrested for not having doors. That can become annoying but they dont try to be rude they just not used to it.

Cincy-yj Should only be a concern if its hailing cuz that just plain hurts at 65 mph...
05-22-2011 10:40 PM
PTWarrior66 I hate rain now...and it's been nice ONE day in the past 3 weeks
05-22-2011 10:39 PM
the59sound I just look outside and see if it looks like it's going to rain. if so then i put the top up. other than that its down. i always have a jacket in the back just incase it gets a little chilly.

Dug I suppose you can't ignore the weather, but lean toward taking some risk. You'll miss half your opportunities to enjoy your jeep if you plan strictly by the weather. Mostly you'll just enjoy cruising on what will turn out to be great days. Of course, somewhere along the way you'll get wet. And you'll laugh louder than ever before. My best memory in my last jeep was riding in a down pour with my son. We laughed the entire ride. And waived at all the people that honked at us. Then we had father-son time cleaning it up the next day. Haven't gotten wet yet in my new jeep.

Mitchness Been caught in a half hour hale-marry thunderstorm with no top going through Seattle before. Had to use a towel (that by the grace of God I had) every 30 seconds. I got some of the greatest looks from people and a couple even took pictures.
