|DIY07||I am going to have to make a set of these next weekend.|

Hello dead thread, lol.
I keep em in place with torque. They don't crush the nylon sleeve and stay off the metal. If I were to hit something, my foot would push it forward and slip off, or if it hit something it would fold back, but it stays put otherwise. It is important to have a flat washer at the top and bottom of the hinge to make it work best.

|WhiskeyMike||Does this stay in that position from the torquing down on the hinge? Has anyone added anything to brace it?|

|slicxric||Bringing this thread back from the dead. I had an idear(probablly not the first). How bout attaching another eye bolt at 90 degrees, wrapped in hose or something non abrasive to the pain, to rest against the hinge. Kinda like a "quick release". Although you stick shifters might need a little mod to keep it from swinging back into the door opening.|

I purchased my pegs from a local bike shop. They had a whole bin of them from old used bikes and the like. The kid used to own a jeep so he sold me a pair for $5.

|TXJK2009||I just took mine off of my son's bike. He's a sophmore now and never rides that bike.|

|Griffmeister||Great, now I have to go steal some kids pegs off his Mongoose.|

|TXJK2009||That trooper must not have anything better to do. It's not reckless than a motorcycle.|

Done. Thank for the information. I'm sure the trooper that pulled me over and said having my foot out of my jeep was reckless driving will love it.

|billiam||cant wait to get this project going! home depot here i come!|

|TXJK2009||Well, I only use it while highway driving. I drive a 6 speed. You can't safely drive with a foot out in the neighborhoods.|

|dukedallas||Awesome! The only thing I might do different would be to wrap the eye bolts with electric tape or sheeth it with plastic tubing because of scoring the inside of your door hinges may cause premature rusting and screw up the door fit once the pegs for the door go back in.|

You just saved me $43! This was a great idea. My son took his pegs off years ago. I knew I held on to them for something.
(They'll look better once I paint the hardware black)

|Iceweasle33||Good idea. I might have to make a set myself!|

|ThePeep||Made mine yesterday night, rode around all day today with them on. The most comfortable way you could ever travel in a jeep: Doors off, top down, pegs on. Thanks for the instructions|

|Bluegrass||Thanks for the thread.. I've had a pair of pegs that this guy gave me that I had been trying to figure out a way to mount without welding. Will post pics when they are finished!|

Hope you have GOOD insurance
When you try and get that foot back inside to stop in a critical situation and can't.
I guess out in the country where you can see 360 degrees for 1/2 mile MIGHT be ok. But any other situation you better have good insurance when you rear end, run over a kid, etc. because you couldn't get on the pedals.
Sitting in that position is totally wrong for trying to react to any situation that calls for quick maneuvering or stopping. That is the advantage of the racing type belts that hold you where you CAN react.

Love the idea!!!
After I saw the post with black ones I went a made a pair ASAP. Will post pics

Thanks for this write up.
I was asking for this exact thing on another thread. Specifically no welding.
