I mounted mine on a "cb rack." I dont believe they sell them any more. Its clean, and the wires tuck up inside it.

I got the everything except the whip mount at my local radio shop. Durhamradio.com. I doubt they'd ship to the states, but they can't be the only place buy it.
I run the cb-amp(12volt)-2way split-2 bull horns. Nice and loud. Causes issues tho. extra volume causes feedback with window down.

|Jerry Bransford||So your PA is nice and loud after adding that Loudmouth amp? That's probably what I should do, the CB's PA output isn't quite enough to drive my outside PA speaker. Where did you get the amp?|

|JamesHolmes||Mine is a Uniden. It's currently mounted on pass side down under the glove box. I have 2 bull horns under the hood and a loud mouth amp. What can I say. When I want to yell at someone, sometimes it is nice to have a well amplified voice.|

i'm thinking about this one. the cb is all in the handle.

The first pic is from my '97 TJ's first mount which worked very well, it was mounted to the rollbar via sheet metal screws.
The second shows my previous TJ's second CB location. I added a piece of 1/8" aluminum on top of my rollbar spreaders and suspended both radios from it. The CB is bolted to the 2m ham radio's bottom plate.
The last pic is from my current '04 TJ that shows the radios on a mount from ARIZONA ROCKY ROAD ANTENNA MOUNTS FOR JEEP WRANGLER, UNLIMITED AND LIBERTY which works very well too.
I prefer the last two mounting locations that place it above and in front of me while driving. It's out of the way yet I can get to the controls easily.

I couldn't find those exact brackets, but the ones I have have been holding up well with no twisting or flex.

|BLK00TJ||I bought 2 48" wall shelving brackets from Lowes and zip-tied them together then ziptied them to the rollbars above the door. then I mounted the CB bracket to that and it has worked well for me. I don't have any pics handy, but I got the idea from another person on the forum that posted pictures of his. Cost under $10.|

|TheDudesTJ||Oh ok, I'll have to look into them then. Hopefully won't end up costing too much.|

|neverfastenough1||Thats where I have mine mounted. I made a mount like the one Quadratec sells.|

|TheDudesTJ||I'm having a friend who runs a radio shop install it for me. From what i understand, he's going to mount it to the back of the tail light and run the wire through there.|

|neverfastenough1||Most difficult thing is figuring out where to mount the antenna. There is a popular one that doesn't require a ground plane. I can't remember if its Firestik or whoever. Wranglers are not the best for ground plane. I think Jerry has some pics of his current setup, or old setup that has both his radios mounted overhead piggyback.|

|TheDudesTJ||Ok cool, I am trying to do this in the most cost effective way possible so zip ties are somewhat appealing. I use HAM radio, but I have never had a mobile unit or a Jeep till this year so i need all the help i can get. Seems to be not as complicated as I initially thought though which is good.|

|neverfastenough1||Depends on where you mount the radio. You can get a speaker from Walmart, Radio Shack, probably BestBuy, or a truck stop. If you are mounting it low, you can mount the speaker to the back of the center console. Up high, you can mount it to the roll bar with some black zipties. On the dash, you can mount it to the side of the console, which is a common place people mount there cb's, too.|
|05-19-2011 08:46 PM|
|TheDudesTJ||Thats a sweet setup. I don't really want to mount mine up over those vents unless it's a last resort. What would you reccomend for an external speaker setup?|
|05-19-2011 08:42 PM|
and yes you can run a wire to the aux in from the external speaker jack. I didn't want to cover my defrost vents.
|05-19-2011 08:39 PM|
|TheDudesTJ||I was thinking about having it mounted on the dash above the center air vents. I've seen some picures of people running an auxillary cable into the auxillery port on their stereo. Either mounting it there or towards the floor|
|05-19-2011 08:36 PM|
|neverfastenough1||Mine is mounted overhead betwen the roll bars. I haven't had the top off yet, mainly because my radio isn't in a box and don't want it to get wet. It is by far the best place I can think of to mount it, but thats because its kinda big. As far as hearing it, the best thing for that is an external speaker mounted closer to your head.|

Best CB Mounting Place
I have a Realistic TRC-417 CB Radio with a speaker on the underside of the unit. I am trying to figure out the best place to mount this in my 2001 Wrangler Sport and still be able to hear the radio decently if i was to remove the top and/or doors. Any help or pictures would be appreciated.
