You would need to buy a programmer like an AEV Procal for around $150 or a tuner like a superchips for around $300

If you have an auto, both will also change your shift points in your transmission for the bigger tire size. My bet is all you would need is the procal; great unit, very useful

Alternitively you as they are stock tires you can go to a dealer and have it done for around $100.

daggo66 They will fit fine with or without the spacers. You should consider programming your speedometer to account for the larger tires.

Newbie tire question

Hi all,

I have a 08 JK X two door. It came stock with 225 75r 16 tires (why do they even put those on a jeep?). I'm getting ready to buy a set of Rubicon 255 75r 17 tired and wheels (take offs). I already have Spidertrax 1.5 wheel spacers (for a wider stance) and no lift. Any considerations? I'm not familiar with re-gear standards, will I need to make any adjustments, or can I just pop them on?
