Off-centered pinion angle???
Is the pumpkin not centered on the F-150 8.8???
The bolt pattern isn't an issue because I'm putting a D44 TTB up front. . .I'm a desert-guy, so it's a high speed, long travel Jeep not a crawler Jeep. . .our 1949 Jeep Willy's pick-up truck is the solid axle crawler.

You can pretty much make any axle work with the right modifications. It will work. However, a F-150 8.8 is I believe 69" while the Explorer runs 60". So it will certainly stick out more. Not to mention, I believe the bolt pattern is 5x5.5 with drum brakes. You'll need to address the off-centered pinion angle.
All in all, you'll spend the same you'd spend on an Explorer axle right there. I'd skip it and keep looking.

Ford 8.8 rear axle swap. . .quick question?
I've got a line on a Ford 8.8 out of a 1996 2WD Ford F-150 for free. . .it already has an Auburn posi unit, 31 spline axles, 4,30 gears, 4-link tabs (still has leaf mounts on as well) and it has the speed sensor/tone ring too. . .
. . .I know the 8.8 out of an Explorer is supposed to work for the Wranglers, but will this axle work as well? I've got a '94 Jeep YJ Wrangler.
