Bladeski Mine rattles the whole pipe-what is that?? Not the heat shield...just put a clamp on that, even though that was a problem a little while back. It's louder right in that big part of the muffler underneath center-what part is that?

BigMike Yea, i have the rattle too...Mines is due to a improper connection from the headers to the exhaust

NY94YJ could be heat shield(s) top or bottom, I tore mine off when they started rattling. Could be disintigrating inside and your hearing the inards rattle around. Bang (tap) on the Muffler see if it cold be the rattle too.

1BLKJP Is it just the converter? Or can you rattle the whole pipe? Could be the ehaust hanger that attaches to the tranny mount? If not then probably your cat starting to go out.

Exhaust Rattle

Been noticing a rattling noise when I start and stop the engine. Crawled under and checked the entire exhaust system (fearing the dreaded collector weld) only to find that I can "rattle" the catalytic converter. Doesn't appear to be anything loose on the outside of the converter. Admittedly haven't taken the time to pull the t-case skid plate so I could really get to it either.

Doesn't sound like broken ceramic but none the less it rattles?
